This hotel is up the street from the beach, where you can walk down to watch the beautiful sunsets. It's also about a 5-minute walk from the center where there are lots of restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel is very clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We were offered a choice of a few breakfast plates, which were included. We have no complaints about Luna Llena. Pura vida!

We stayed for a week in June 2021 and highly recommend. Small and personable defines this hotel. It's slightly off the beaten path but walk to beach is a breeze and it's so close to town that walking everywhere is not an issue. Bungalows were cute, clean and the grounds were well maintained. Pool was good size although hot tib was nit working. The fresh juice at breakfast was a treat and it was nice having 3 breakfast options to chose from. Peno was a wonderful host with great recommendations for restaurants and quick to assist us. Signage at the main road would have been helpful to find the hotel but that was the only glitch we experienced.

Hotel Luna Llena is a very nice and tastefully built hotel hidden off a main road in Tamarindo. It’s about a 5-7 minute walk down to the beach by Noguis Bar Restaurant. The management is very accommodating and friendly. They offer rooms for couples, families or groups. Their Mediterranean style bungalows are practical with a kitchenette area and 2 extra single beds upstairs in a loft like setting. They’re perfect for families. The pool is inviting and cozy with a sunny deck and a swim up bar with a shaded area to escape the strong Guanacaste sun. Howler monkeys can be heard and seen in the mornings. They have security and the staff is friendly and helpful. You can also park safely right outside free of charge. This is not a resort type hotel. It is a family owned and run hotel that has it’s own unique charm and character. I can’t wait to go back!

This was the last hotel of our 3 week trip in CR. Three nights,4 days. We arrived before check in and I chatted with the owner. We talked about how the covid 19 crisis had started to affect the tourism industry in CR. He told me that only my wife and I and another group were all he had booked for that day, and that he had had only 5 the previous day. I felt bad for him. He let us put our bags in a room and we could come back later once our room was ready. I had a quick look around and saw a nice pool and several little cabanas nearby. Very cute. My wife was looking forward to having a relaxing last few days here. When we returned a couple hours later to get the room the owner took us around the back of the hotel, up a flight of narrow stairs and into a room that looked out the back of the hotel, not a room by the pool at all. And this room had like 3 beds in it for like a family? And it was really dark, felt like a jail cell. I asked him why he did not give us a room near the pool. He said he was all booked up??? We were confused. I told him we don’t want that room he said the only other one was the room next door but it was smaller. Not sure what this guy was thinking. He lied to us? Anyway we went to another hotel as I couldn’t believe what this man did. The pictures are of the view we would have had if we stayed there and the walkway/stairs leading to the room. Too bad as the trip was great, just this idiot kind of left us with a bad taste. With all that’s going on in the world he should think about how he treats people. Karma pays swift to people like him. Be careful at this hotel. There are lots of hotels in Tamarindo that are in better locations, cleaner, nicer staff and less expensive. You have quite a long walk down a dirt road to the beach and into town where all the good stores and restaurants are. Do your homework before you decide to book this 2 bit place.

I had a wonderful time at the hotel, the staff is very nice, polite and helpful. The manager and office workers helped me plan family trips, on atvs, boats, and zip lining, all fantastic experiences. The hotel is a perfect mixture of the Costa Rican real experience to learn about the country and culture yet in creative and very comfortable rooms. The breakfast was very good, everyday they served different natural juices and had three different plates. The women who clean are very thorough, as well as nice. The hotel had a couple of cats around, they hung out with us and disappeared in to the plants. I had the amazing opportunity to see monkeys in the morning and afternoon, as well as eagles, iguanas, parrots, land turtles and many different animals in the surrounding forest of the hotel. Overall I had an awesome time, made new friends and learned a lot about the culture of this mesmerizing country. I recommend this hotel for anyone traveling who wants to experience Costa Rica and it’s culture through local workers and businesses. But thank you to the whole staff and animals hope to be back soon! Sincerely, Emily.

This little hotel is well located, close to the beach, restaurants and supermarkets. Pino, the owner, is an excellent host and always ready to answer your questions. There are three choices of included breakfast, one with Gallopinto, and all of them excellent, the rooms a little outdated, but the AC works well. The pool has an outstanding design and there are palm trees all over the place.

We showed up in Tamarindo without a reservation and decided to walk around and find a place to stay. After googling, we walked up a dirt road, a little off the path to Hotel Luna. At first I was hesitant, but once we walked through the gate we instantly knew we were in the right place! The owners are amazing and kind, the grounds and housekeeping staff are so nice and the bartender, Florenzio (aka Todd), was awesome! Our bungalow was great, King size bed and a small kitchen and bath on the main floor, and two twins upstairs. The AC was cold and the water was nice and hot. It was a great place to spend three days! The swimUp bar, the Italian food was delicious and the drinks plentiful. The community atmosphere was perfect, we met so many people! Breakfast was delicious and the best way to start each day. We will be back!!

This hotel is close to the beach and restaurants. We found our room clean and cheery. Small pool area was nice however a few loungers in the shade would be great. Breakfast menu was limited but very good . We had pasta and pizza at their restaurant and the food was delicious and a good price. beds were a bit hard. I would come back to this hotel!

This is the second year in a row that I stay here, we love that the hotel is very close to the beach so we don’t have to be driving all around, you can get to the stores and restaurants very quickly as well, the owners are very kind and like to make you feel at home, the hotel has this private oasis feeling that we like a lot, we stayed with our 2 year old son, he enjoyed the pool very much, nice and well priced food at the restaurant by the pool, good breakfast, rooms are good with all that you need for a pleasant stay! Next year we plan to stay again! We love Tamarindo.
