This review is for the studio, room 2. Tamarindo has changed a lot in the last few years: it has grown considerably and become more expensive. That said, we were surprised at the poor value for money represented by this hotel. We had hoped that, at $135 a night, it would be decent quality. We were disappointed that our room was yards from the busy main road and that the windows were an old louvered type which let in not only huge traffic noise but also some fumes and dust. The room was tired and had not been maintained well - stained tiles and toilet, chipped paint, ill-fitting curtains and door which, given the cost, seems unreasonable. The room is in serious need of a deep clean. Also, even after being looked at twice by staff, we could only achieve two outcomes from the ac - way too hot or freezing cold - no happy medium. Wi-fi was also inconsistent and often weak or non existent. On the plus side it is very close to shops and restaurants, the bed was comfortable and the fridge worked well but the noise from both the road and the pool/ reception area (from where we could hear people’s whole conversations in our room) were overwhelming for us and we would not return. Frankly if these sort of prices persist we would not return to Tamarindo - it is no longer what it was and is currently pricing itself out of the market, when so many alternatives exist.

Hotel Flores is a beautiful place and you should stay here. It is so comfortable, convenient, friendly, and clean. Every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Cinzia. Walter took care of our every need. He even let me take a boogie board to the beach. And Paola, the owner, was always available by phone to help us as well. She organized a great sailing trip on the Albatros that we highly recommend. The location is ideal - many good restaurants of various types and three supermarkets are within a 5-minute walk. The beach is only an 8-minute walk away. Make sure you rent bikes at Salina, which is only 5 minutes away. The swimming pool is perfect. The room is cozy and includes a refrigerator, excellent WiFi, wonderful air conditioner and great cable TV with many channels. The other guests when we were there were very friendly and the overall atmosphere was so relaxing. We cannot say enough nice things about this wonderful place, and if we are ever lucky enough to visit Tamarindo again, we hope to be able to stay at Hotel Flores.

Hotel Flores is a great place to unwind in busy Tamarindo. The foliage and pool with waterfall is a relaxing spot to relax in the afternoon. Nice and close to the beach, but far enough where it's quiet. Few houses down from the grocery store and bank, restaurants are plentiful around. Breakfast was tasty with enough choices for everyone. Room was adequate, a bit dated, but bed was very comfy. Very happy with my stay and would stay again!

Hotel Flores provides a lovely setting for your visit to Costa Rica. The beautiful grounds with flowers, the pool with fountain, and of course the early morning howling monkeys all make for a relaxing stay. Paola and Cynthia fix the most delicious breakfasts ever....omelets, granola with large chunks of fresh fruit, breakfast sandwiches and good strong coffee. Walter took care of our room and always had a smile on his face. Our room, while not a Hilton or Marriott, had the basics with a comfortable bed. The hotel, located on a very rough road, is a short distance from the beach, a trillion restaurants(😜), a market, a laundry, and various tour businesses. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.....large rocks, uneven surfaces, and dust and more dust make sidewalks and roads a challenge. The heat, thank goodness,is tempered by a strong breeze. Take plenty of money..nothing is cheap here. We used credit cards for meals and American dollars for everything else. Before booking tours, do your homework and check reviews. Our trip to the rainforest was very good and seeing the sloths was the highlight of the trip. All in all, we found the Costa Rican community to be friendly and helpful. Pura Vida!

This hotel is located perfectly. Across from the bank, next door to a supermarket and walkable to the beach and any other entertainment or services you need. Paola and Cynthia are The Best Hostess and chefs! Breakfast every morning was a true delight! From the homemade bagels and granola to the fresh fruits and ground cafes. The property is well maintained and secure. Our room was adequate and equipped with a kitchenette. We found the king bed to be too firm for our liking but in good condition. There are many levels and steps and no elevators so if you have a disability that requires wheelchair, crutches or other devices, look at the larger chain hotels.
