We stayed at La Selva for one night. This biological station is a great place to stay if looking for nature and adventure. We did the night hike with FoFo (Rodolfo), which turned out to be a great experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about the...More
There are a number of negative reviews of La Selva on Tripadvisor - this is not going to be one of them, but I would say that the mixed reactions are down to the fact that this is probably not a place for the general...More
Did not stay overbite but spend the day there. Took a private hour tour with a nice tour guide and enjoyed the walk through the station. Photographed about 20 different species of birds but there was not much else there during this period of time,...More

Hi, I am going to San Jose, Cuba for holidays for a week and I would like to visit La selva. I am a photographer and will be carrying camera and lens equipment. My trip is going with a Gap tour but I am arriving a day earlier than the tour group so I can go to La Selva. My questions are:
- Is one day enough or is this a place where a day is a waste of time? We arrive at San Jose at 4pm on November 20 at which point we can go straight to all Selva to spend the night and have the next day for a tour. On the 21st we have to be back at San Jose by 6pm. So we only have 1 day between 6am to 3:00 pm to visit La Selva.
Is it worth it?
Thanks so much,

"All the normal visitor rooms are identical and closely situated. It doesn't matter."
