We stayed at Playa Negra Guesthouse for 5 nights in March, 2017 with our three children aged 12, 10 and 6. What a gem!!! The grounds are stunning, the pool is perfectly cool and beautifully maintained... Thanks to the wildlife spotting skills of our host, Pierre, we soon discovered that we didn't need to venture far away from the pool...

I found this place on tripadvisor, and I echo all the other positive reviews. Myself, husband, and two boys (age 5 and 8) stayed here for our ENTIRE 2 week vacation. It was perfect. We stayed in the green cottage, which has it's own private veranda and back path over to the pool area. Some days we needed to take...

My family of 4 (two daughters, ages 11 and 13) spent the last two nights of our week in Costa Rica at the Playa Negra Guesthouse. As soon as we walked through the gate into the garden area, I knew we had found a treasure. Marise gave us a tour, including suggestions for eating and activities, and we immediately settled...

My family recently spent our winter break at Playa Negra Guesthouse. The yellow cottage was perfect for our family of four. The grounds were beautiful (sloths, parrots, toucans, howler monkeys, iguanas, all within the yard!) and well-kept; the property was clean; the owners and staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful; the location was perfect, easy walking distance to the...

Playa Negra GH exceeded my expectations. Our room was lovely -- spacious, clean, and the bed very comfortable, with an outdoor seating area. The grounds are stunningly beautiful with a gorgeous pool and lots of wildlife (howler monkeys, iguanas) to see while lazing in the pool. Pierre, Marise and Annie are very helpful and go out of their way to...

Playa Negra was a wonderful and accommodating hotel. It was a calm place to rest and enjoy the carribean coast from, just across the street from access to a quiet beach in Cahuita. The hotel has a higher end feel and seemed extremely safe. The front desk was unusually helpful and accommodating.

Having visited Playa Negra Guesthouse once previously with friends, I knew what to expect - a great location, a great staff, a great setting, a great experience! This time I brought my family and it was even better. The weather and ocean conditions this trip were perfect! These were some of the best days we have spent anywhere in Costa...

The Playa Negra Guesthouse is one of the best places we've ever stayed. Our room was adorable with big double doors that we left open all night to the jungle breeze; the maid service was impeccable. The grounds are very well kept, very pretty and the pool is sparkling clean. Marise was so helpful, sat with my husband for easily...

We (family with four kids aged 12, 10, 8 and 4) just spent two weeks in Playa Negra Guesthouse with Marise and Pierre who where incredibly good hosts. Clean and well functioning cabins, amazing wildlife around the cabins, great breakfast, and a wonderfully guided tour by Pierre through the national park all at a very reasonable price. Thank you.

We spent two weeks at the Playa Negra Guesthouse. It was the perfect base for exploring Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. It is safe, clean and friendly. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Marise and Pierre are welcoming and helpful. We would encourage anyone to stay here.
