We stayed there before hiking Chirripo and also had lunch there after coming back. The food was good, room was clean, and the showers were hot. It's also located very close to the beginning of the hike to Chirripo. They even have a large sink where you can wash your boots after the hike.

While it is not a luxury hotel, it is clean and friendly. The best part is that is closest hotel to the chirripo park entrance, so its a great place to start your journey to Chirripo. Food is also good and prices are very reasonable. We stay there every time we climb Chirripo. I am sure we will stare there... More

We arrived in San Gerardo a day early and decided to stay here. The rooms were great. Comfy beds, clean bathrooms. The best part was how friendly and helpful the staff was. Food here was very satisfying. If you're in the area I highly recommend staying here.

Although, we weren't staying here at the hotel, we did have a well deserved lunch after a morning of hiking and birding. Lunch was really very good. Excellent salads and meat dishes with cheerful & friendly service. In a great area for walking too.

Before climbing Chirripo you are suppose to get a good rest however was not the case in this hotel... I could have noticed immediately that the sheets are not clean and during the night I could feel urine smell from the covers.. I know the place is close to the entrance to the park so that's why is very convenient... More

Hotel Uran is a great choice if you plan to hike up the Chirripó. The staff is really helpful, and the food is competent (full of needed carbs). The rooms are very clean, and most accommodate up to 4 people.

We spend a night before climbing the highest Costa Rican mountain Chirripo, this Hotel is just 30 meters from Km 0 "Zero" trail, this zone is very steep so if you dont know this fact you may be reserving a hotel that is 2 kms or further and you should walk all this distance over a very steep road to... We spent one night here after escaping the other hotel in town. Hotel room is simple but the view from common area is beautiful. The restaurant has the best seafood soup of Costa Rica and other yummy dishes! Hotel manager Roy speaks great English and he went out of his way to help our family with the hiking and transportation.... More

It is a cold unfriendly place. The music is put on loud early. I was given tasteless scrambled eggs when I asked for fried and there was scum in the bottom of my coffee cup. A bird flew into a large window pane and died during breakfast and we were told it happens all the time. A giant stag horn... More
