Traveled to Samasati this month with a group of yogis. From the drive up the hill to the view from the dining room to the casita, everything was amazing. I went for the views, the yoga and some service work and I was not disappointed. The casitas are very comfortable, but don't expect luxury. They area clean and completely sufficient....

Samasati is amazing. I went for a Solo Travelers Yoga Retreat. Everything about the experience was fantastic; Stephanie is a great yoga teacher, there was a lot of variety in the types of yoga taught, the food was amazing, the location in the rainforest it so beautiful and peaceful, the views are stunning, day trips to the most picturesque beaches...

I'll start with the pros. The views from the room and dining area are truly spectacular, and well worth the long drive. The verandah and hammocks outside our room were lovely spots to relax with a good book. The yoga teacher, Rebecca from London was excellent, and we really enjoyed practicing with her. We met a fantastic group of people...

Getting here is half the battle. Fly to San Jose, then either shuttle bus or fly Sansa to LImon and shuttle an hour to Samasati. No quick way to get here. Arrived tired and hungry but dinner was lovely. Our morning view was worth the long travel. Sea views and sunrises. Rainforest for miles. Lots of little animals and if...

Emergency response UNACCEPTABLE! Samasati has a gorgeous, remote location. If all goes well, it's a beautiful thing. However, all did not go well on our trip. The first night, one of our retreat participants fell down the steps in her room and luckily came away with just a very large & painful bruise. I don't believe anyone ever reported this...

“The classic/preferred casitas are recommended for their private baths and privacy. More expensive but worth it.”

“Call the reservations line directly and be sure you know what you are booking. As a solo traveler, I was assigned a much smaller (and clearly inferior) cabin upon arrival. All the photos on the website showed a different casita type and what I got was certainly not what I was expecting. They changed my room when I asked and I just had to switch rooms my last night. All good. It seems the reservations dept is remote, in San Jose, and a bit disconnected from the actual property. Just make sure you know what you are getting.”
