There is a real passion here for the local environment which comes across in every aspect of the lodge. This, along with the attention to detail, makes for a wonderful stay. High level of cleanliness, pure drinking water, plenty of wildlife within the grounds. Food refined and delicious. Could not fault our stay.

This is a wonderful place to stay near Tortuguero National Park. The rooms are in lodges within the grounds which are well kept with beautiful plants and flowers. The hotel is situated in the rainforest so you wake up to the sounds of howler monkeys and can easily spot monkeys, birds, igauanas, poison frogs and other wildlife in the grounds....

so enjoyed this property, it is situated, right on the river, one dines while sitting almost on the river, patio areas/pool and bar very nice with great views everyday. Meal service done very nicely, good choices, everything was flavorful and well prepared. They offered a small appetizer each evening, it was almost the same chips and dip, this is ok,...

A beautiful lodge in beautiful surroundings.Staff were excellent, they were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely gardens and swimming pool too! One minor negative was no fridge in the room. I realise that fridges aren't exactly eco friendly but a small cooler with ice would be sufficient for keeping water cold? Just a thought. Would definitely recommend.

Dear friendsonholiday2015, We really appreciate your comment about the fridge in the room. For people considering a stay with us, we offer guests that need to refrigerate something the opportunity to do so in our restaurant and bar refrigerators. For a cool drink at night, I'm glad that you mentioned this, we used to put a pitcher of ice cold...

We stayed here on a visit to Costa Rica 7 years ago, and when returning to the country, this was the one place we simply had to come back to again. We were not disappointed. This is a lovely setting along the river (although there is more boat traffic now than there used to be, so it's not quite as...

Dear Janice E, Thank you for mentioning the size of the lodge. Tortuga Lodge is quite small, we only have 27 rooms. Most other lodges in the area are much larger 60+ rooms. Our size and location give us the ability to personalize our service to guests. Our dining room offers sit down meals, no standing in line at a...

To get to this beautiful resort does require a few hours of bumpy road ride and then a further hour or so of enjoyable boat ride through Costa Rican vegetation with opportunities to see local wildlife along the banks. The final section opens out into the main river which just after the hotel meets with the Caribbean Sea and coast....

Dear Tim S, Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with Trip Advisor! You're right, visiting Tortuguero National Park is very much like a water borne safari. We offer the tour into the park in motorized boats or kayak. Our tours into the park include round trip transportation, park entrance fee, water, rain ponchos and most importantly...

We had a great stay here - very slick service from initial boat transfer right through to the checkout and transfer back. Well positioned lodge, 10 minutes or so by boat to the national park entrance and Tortuguero village. Our room was on an upper balcony with a river view, and was both spacious and clean. No air con, but...

Just returned from a four night stay at this wonderful place. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. The lunch menu was limited and could do with a few more options but there is a limited food supply( as everything had to be boated in). There is a complementary water taxi service to the small village/national park entrance. The rooms...

Dear Ian B, Thank you for mentioning not only the River View which of course everyone talks about, but also for mentioning the garden view which so few of our guests talk about.
