We were on the same tour as Pete. (prev. review) The theft from safes of fellow travelers was extremely unsettleing. The fact that our tour director did not address this to the group is unsettleing as well. Also, the fact that Caravan puts literaly hundreds of travelers in this lodge weekly in high season boggles the mind of the volume of...

The problem here is to review the lodge in isolation rather than the whole Tortuguero experience. The Pachira has adequate rooms. You shouldn't expect too much in a National Park and you don't get too much, No a/c, no tv, phone or window glass. No sink plug either but this seems quite normal in CR. The restaurant is quite alright...

We stayed at this lodge as part of Caravan recently. The lodge is good for the jungle type setting. The cabins are run down old and in need of major upgrade. By that I mean not cable TV, Phone and AC but basic necessary things like Toilets, bedding, clean bathroom sinks, mosquito nets, room safe in working order etc. The...

We recently stayed at Pachira Lodge as part of a Caravan.com tour of Costa Rica during March 21 , 22. The experience was wonderful at the time, as was the rest of the tour but unfortunately a theft incident occurred at this property that left quite a few people, including ourselves, shocked in disbelief. Personally speaking we knew that we...

Stayed at Pachira Lodge, Tortuguero as part of a package tour. The grounds are gorgeous, and the views from our room and balcony were wonderful. You are truly "in the jungle" when you stay there. Saw incredible wildlife and the vegetation and flowers were breathtaking. Staff were helpful and friendly, room clean. Food excellent and plentiful. It poured rain for...

Stayed here for two nights during a Costa Rican tour. Accessed via boat from mainland - a great journey up the river, with lots of wildlife on the way. A great place for exploring the fabulous rain forest, full of Howler monkeys, (alarm clock not required !!) iguana, birds, and a few not so welcome creatures . Deet spray recommended...

We were really looking forward to this part of our trip and we were not disappointed! The journey up the river was just a foretaste of the early morning boat trip to see the wildlife in the canals - we saw lots of birds, monkeys, a caiman, crocodile and even an anteater high up in the trees. Being somewhere so...

We stayed at the Pachira for a couple of nights - part of a tour - the tour was fantastic - really enjoyable. Whilst the surrondings were really lovely (back to nature) I am not sure I could have stayed any more nights. The food was a bit samey but pefectly good food. The rooms were a bit too basic...

We wound up at the Pachira Lodge on a Caravan tour of Costa Rica. Our individual cabins were clean, moist, (very moist) and simple. The lighting was quite poor making reading inside impossible. The windows are screened but not glazed so the Howler monkeys living above in the dense forest serve at natural alarms. One night during a storm, they were...

If you are expecting 5 star hotel, this place is not for you. BUT if you are looking to stay somewhere as close as you can to Mother Nature and enjoy the minimum of civilized word- you will love this lodge. We traveled with tour, so I didn't book it myself, but LOVED these 2 nights stay in this inside...
