My wife and I spent four nights in this lovely riverside hotel. We were in a superior room on the second floor. Clean and comfortable. A single and a double bed. A good-sized bathroom. Wi-for. Lots of windows which affords a great view of the...More
We stayed for 3 nights in an upstairs room facing the canal. Our room was basic and clean and quiet. Casa Marbella is conveniently located and has a lovely deck facing the water where you can sit for hours watching the river activity and where...More
This small hotel, or rather B&B, is located in center of small Tortuguero village, just across the church. It is simple, but well located, with a large terrace and a great view on the river and the forest across. When you rest there, you often...More
The rooms are basic, but clean and reasonably comfortable. It is right on the river, and there is a deck that offers a nice look. The tours that were offered were marginal. One guide book we used recommended this place as one where excellent guided...More
We expected an interesting B&B, but ended up with a small spartan room with a window on the main street, so could not open curtains. Heard street noises late into the night and again very early in the morning. Breakfast was good. Boat tour somewhat...More

Late August is a great time to visit if you want to see turtles. The peak of the Green Sea Turtle nesting season is the third week of August. If you come towards the end of the month (or even in early September) you will still have an excellent chance to observe them and there will be fewer tourists in late summer.
We have a variety of rooms (no two are alike) and only two of them face the "road" (there are no cars in Tortuguero). Some face into the property and others face the river. Rooms are very affordable and fairly priced according to their size and the view.
Our most economical rooms start at a very reasonable $35 per night including taxes (single ocupancy). We do not charge for coffee, tea and the full breakfast served between 7:00-10:00 every day.
Most people spend the vast majority of their time wildlife watching in the national park (which is practically next door), exploring the village and the attractions in the surrounding area, or sitting on our large covered deck overlooking the river relaxing, sharing photos with their friends and family using our wireless internet, watching birds or just observing the boats going by.
Our guests tend to spend very little time in their rooms so if you want a clean, comfortable and affordable place to stay as a base for your explorations in the area I would recommend one of the more economical rooms.
I see you have already written to us directly. We will be sending you all kinds of details about our accommodations, how to get to Tortuguero and what activities you might like to try. We have friendly, highly-experienced, licensed guides who would be delighted to show you the natural marvels that make Tortuguero a must-visit destination in any nature-lover's Costa Rica itinerary.
Thanks for considering us for your stay. I am confident that you will be very well looked after and will take away some great memories from this little corner in paradise.
