We were visiting the area of Gofo Dulce, and Golfito which is inside the Gulf. We were extremely fortunate to find Amaka Hotel at the Golfito Marina. This is a hidden jewel in the lush emerald green forest that surrounds the ocean. The Golfito Marina offers berths for Luxurious Yachts that many time come from the Panama Canal crossing and decide to stop in Costa Rica. Quite a fantastic decision! Amaka offers the visitors a realm o quietness and sophisticated comfort. The rooms welcome you with a scent of natural fibers, perhaps thanks to the swinging chair, rugs, wooden furniture and delicate arrangements. The lamps, the linens, the most sensational pillows and the magic mattress. You just don't want to leave the room!! the place offers an incredible number of outdoors activities such as sport fishing, whale and dolphin observation (in season), rain forest trails, ethnic tours, city exploration, water bikes, rappelling and so many more. I highly recommend La Playa Restaurant with exceptionally good gourmet meals,served by professional charming staff, experiences chefs, wonderful ambience, and great cocktails!! Also, while here, do not forget to check Paka Paka Bar at the beach. Amaka is a magic retreat in the midst of the most scenic views of Golfo Dulce, waterfalls, rivers, colorful birds, and the best friendly staff I have ever seen!! The best and all success!! Can't wait to go back!!!

We found this place to be special, luxurious and awesome.
My wife though the guest room was one of the coolest we have ever stayed in and we have traveled to 20 countries together. We live in Costa Rica and will be returning to this property again soon.
Aside from the rooms and the special views of the Bahia from just about anywhere, the restaurant facing the water was awesome. We had afternoon cocktails and delicious 'tapas' while being treated to a spectacular light show of lightning dancing across the sky is during an 'aguacero' storm passing by.

Can't be beat for the price and location. I can't believe there are not more reviews for how amazing this place is. I have been here multiple times and it never gets old. They just keep making it better and better. They are slowly working on expanding the area so every once in a while there are construction noises after 8am, but it's barely noticeable the times I have stayed here. Great people, helpful staff, great views, and overall a great experience every time. Easily my favorite place in Golfito.

We booked the hotel for a night through expedia. Upon arrival late afternoon they told us they had overbooked. Ok, can but in a well managed hotel won’t happen. They offered us 2 other hotels. In the amaka they charged us 285.- usd and they wanted us to accept a hotel which for the same night at expedia had a cost of 75 usd. After complaining they told us we get a free dinner. After more complaining they agreed to not charge us for the night - for a non existing service. Seemingly its the business model of the hotel to pocket their rate of 285 and then send you to a 75 usd establishment pocketing the difference. This is sn obvious scam

Nos gustaría aclarar que no es nuestra intención ni nuestra práctica habitual realizar estafas. Desafortunadamente, en ocasiones los errores ocurren en el proceso de reservación y gestión de habitaciones. Lamentablemente, parece que este fue el caso en su situación y nos disculpamos por las molestias que esto pudo haberle causado. Nos alegra saber que se le ofrecieron opciones alternativas y una cena de cortesía para compensar la situación, pero entendemos que esto no fue suficiente para usted. Las habitaciones son parte de la marina, por Lo que comparte instalaciones con el restaurante y otras amenidades que se ofrecen en el lugar. El cuarto es muy amplio,fresco y cómodo. Tiene una vista muy bonita de la bahía y se pasa muy tranquilo.El personal es muy amable y los desayunos en el restaurante del primer piso son muy buenos. Creo que es la mejor opción de hospedaje en Golfito.

Chambres magnifiques mais : toute la nuit derrière l hôtel camions qui attendent moteurs allumés pour charger des bateaux au port, à partir de 6h le matin marteau piqueur des travaux voisins qui ne sont pas prêts de finir, départ de la chambre pour un tour dans la baie à 8h30 retour à 15 h et la chambre n est toujours pas faite…..si vous voulez passer un bon moment, passez votre chemin Ps: réservation par booking non honorée par l hôtel et pas de vue sur la mer

El hotel está ubicado en la Marina Bahía Golfito. Es nuevo y cuenta con 10 habitaciones muy cómodas y bien decoradas. Tiene dos restaurantes: “La Playa” con muy buenas opciones tanto para desayunar como para almuerzo y cena y “Paka Paka” que es de bocas y tragos. La atención es muy buena. Tiene un malecón precioso hacia la marina y unas espectaculares vistas a la bahía Golfito y parte del Golfo Dulce. Opción muy recomendada en Golfito. Volvería sin dudarlo
