Esquinas feels as though it is in the heart of the jungle and the managers Julia and Fernando are developing it to maximise the experience. The whole ethos and organisation is focused on eco-friendliness. The individual cabins have a spacious bedroom and a very reasonable shower room (hot water availabe) with a covered terrace. Everything was very tidy and clean...

I rode there on a motorcycle with my buddies and let me warn you- there is a bridge that must be crossed with two tracks designed for four-wheelers. My buddies and I experienced a real thrill crossing on our bikes! Once we got there, all was good. The food was great and the staff helpful. the rooms are screened in...

This is a wonderful place for nature lovers. Considering that, it is pure luxury. There is no silk or embroidered cushions, but everything is extremely neat and clean. Remember: This is a LODGE! You are right in the middle of nature, even when you walk to breakfast. Nature may even be in your room with you, but hey, that's what...

Not quite in the middle of nowhere but that's what it felt like here. You have the other residents and the sound of the jungle for company. Rooms basic but very clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was good. Lots of wildlife wandering through the camp, caymen live in a pond by the entrance to the compound and a...

Very quiet place in the middle of nature. Excellent for watching birds and other wildlife! Clean rooms, very helpful staff. Good network of trails allows to walk in the jungle safely. Although I went in rainy season with a 4WD, roads were better than I expected.

Fantastic chance to get close to nature with loads of walks to explore the forest all of which start at the lodge. The communal space is cosy and the staff are so friendly. I would love to go back at a moments notice.

This is a great place for people who want to be with nature. It's not super fancy or posh, but certainly comfortable and there is instant access to nature. Loads of birds and the night hike is a must...we saw a red-eyed green tree frog...something I've always wanted to see in CR. The lodge room was great. Staff is super...

Esquinas Lodge is fine, as long as you know what you're getting. Once well-known as a birder's lodge, it is now far from that. There are no longer any qualified bird guides, only nature guides who lead eco-tourists on short morning walks. The birds are still there, if you're comfortable getting them on your own. The focus of the lodge...

First of all I have to say: WOW!!! This is THE best location to stay for nature lovers! Yes, there is no AC in the rooms and yes, there are bugs and mosquitos around, but this is why you'll come here. There are so much birds and other animals you'll see directly from your room or dining room. All trails...

My stay at the Esquinas Rainforest Lodge was a pleasant surprise. I spend the night in a lovely bungalow room and enjoyed good homemade food. In the evening I enjoyed a night walk with a guide and the next morning I went for a horse riding tour to the waterfall. I can really recommend this lodge for all nature lovers....
