This hotel is the best place to stay at this region. The location is beautiful. It faces the sea. There is a nice swimming pool at this hotel which offers a perfect relaxing time while you are here. The environment is completely peaceful. You have a feeling of safety while you are at this serene place. The food is excellent. The staff and the service are extremely good. The rooms are spacious and clean with good air conditioning. I stayed at this place with my wife and kids. My kids had a great time at the kids pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place and would definitely come back for some relaxation.

This hotel received rave reviews from other folks, so we decided to go there for our short stay in Costa Rica. We were very disappointed. The rooms were quite large and very clean, but badly in need of repair and revitalizing. Lamps were broken, there was no control device for the AC (the only way to make it work), water leaked from the shower stall and there was a septic tank smell that permeated the room. The property was once quite nice, but lights were broken off around the pool, tiles were cracked and the "museum"/gift shop was dusty and dark. On the bright side, as mentioned in other reviews, the staff was excellent. Very helpful and friendly. The dinners were great - fresh fish and seafood prepared anyway you wanted. You could go into the kitchen and pick out your fish. The waiter remembered your preferences for drinks and accompaniments from one night to the other. For some reason, lunchtime food was always overcooked - perhaps a different chef than at dinner. Be prepared to entertain yourselves. Unless you fish, there is absolutely nothing to do in Golfito. We did take a boat ride where we were told we would see monkeys, dolphins, crocodiles, birds. We saw nothing - but the boat ride was pleasant. And, management invites local folks in to use the pool. Unfortunately, the local folks are young boys - not families - who take over, scream and cannonball into the water. We stayed away from the pool until they left or rested for lunch.

The hotel is very good, clean and centrally located. The pool was great. The staff are all excellent, friendly and extremely helpful. There are many members of the team speaking a little English.
The staff will help organise tours from the hotel. The restaurant was good with a reasonable selection on the menus and everything we ate was good. The breakfast which is included was the same traditional type but staff would find alternatives if they could. One member of staff especially, R alerted us to having overpaid by a large amount so we found a trustworthiness which was exceptional. Thank you. Remember it is possible to use both USD or local currency but be careful with converting.

This hotel was party central while we were there. I can only guess they rent the facilities out for events. We were booked for 5 nights, left after 2. The first night had a party going until well after 4am. You could still hear the music thru the door. The second day had a boisterous birthday party beside the pool. They advertise free wifi throughout, but we could only get it at the restaurant. Upon inquiring, the gentleman at the front desk replied"it isnt working?" Inferred that they were short staffed and busy... he would get to it....we were still waiting when we left. The wait staff were great, the room was clean but could use some updating.

One room was located right on the water of the bay and had a large terrace; it was large and comfortably appointed. The other room was dark, dingy, smokey (!) and had no view. The pool was very pleasant, there were lots of birds around. Breakfast was minimal - it was coffee OR orange juice! Service was minimal and generally indifferent.

Large room, good breakfast, decent amenities, friendly staff, well-located. Only caveat is price fluctuates quite a bit. Can be 45 USD one day, 80 the next. Monitor the rate, reap the benefits. Pura Vida.

The nicest couple in the world, with the BEST Shrimp Cocktail in the WORLD!!!.
We drove from Pavones after surfing one day, just for the C.Shrimps.

They let us swim and even gave us towels to dry off with, knowing we weren't staying there, just being the nicest people you'll ever meet, as in all of Costa Rica

After a long trip from San Jose we were looking forward to some rest before taking off again in the morning. The deep base music of the bar continued late on into the Sunday night (actually until early Monday morning). Luckily we did have earplugs.

The room may have been rustically nice at one time but deferred maintenance and poor quality bedding was prevalent. See through sheets, thin mattresses, broken towel bars, chain lock on door broken, stained tiles from a leaky shower all gave the room the shabby look of a declining hotel. With the prices of a nice one. The ac worked very good as did the tv.

Breakfast was included for two people. There were no choices other than the rice and beans, scrambled eggs, toast and fruit. I don't care for scrambled eggs and the fruit was past its prime. The waiter played video games vs being attentive customers.

The view, location and staff are very nice. The rooms are horrible. You can not turn on the fan independently of the lights and the AC works poorly. Finally we unscrewed the lightbulbs so we could have the fan on. Dogs were barking, the walls are so thin you could hear the TV next to us. The room is in major need of renovation. We had a fruit plate for breakfast with about 3 refills of coffee and they charged us for each refill. If this is rated 2 out of 8 hotels in Golfito I hate to see what 8 is like.
