My husband and I stayed here for 9 nights. We rented the bungalow which was perfect for us. Hot water, kitchenette, queen bed with mosquito netting, amazing veranda, A/C, ceiling fan plus, the best host we could ever ask for, Franz. Don't expect USA resort style here. It is rustic but comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy, inside and out....

We stayed for three nights at Pachamama, it was the end of an intensive three-week trip and it was the perfect finish of our holiday. The lodge is beautiful and quiet, close to the beach and the host, Franz, is very friendly, relaxed and helpful. It's possible to rent surfboards, an ATV to discover the beautiful neighbourhood and Franz drove...

We highly recommend Pachamama. We had just the best time. We visit Pachamama with our family. The rooms are nice and spacious. A kitchen, a private outdoor space to have meals and an outdoor shower were a few of the many good points of this lodge. Franz was a great host, full of tips about places to eat and to...

Pachamama is a beautiful, quiet retreat surrounded by nature. In addition, Franz will do whatever is required to make sure your stay goes smoothly, and is more than happy to help organise for you to do all the things Mal Pais and surrounds offer if you want to get out and about and explore the stunning national park and beaches,...

The owner Franz is really friendly and helps you with anything you need. He also arranged us a lovely yoga teacher Tracy to come to Pachamama and give us a yoga lesson at the garden -...

We stayed at Pachamama for seven nights over christmas and had a superb, relaxing stay. The grounds are beautiful, bungalow was clean, comfortable, had a great little kitchenette, and Franz is an absolute gent as well as a great host. Our bungalow was wonderful, with all the needed amenities. The air conditioning was put to good use! Franz, the owner, was very helpful with everything and went out of his way to make sure that we had everything we needed. Pachamama is in a peaceful area of Mal Pais, which was perfect for us.

Well worth the half day bus ride/ferry/bus to get there! At the Cruze we got off the bus and walked to the left with heavy backpacks and guitar in the hot afternoon sun, about 20 minutes. We had a warm welcome from Franz and crew. All of whom became fast friends. We chose a bungalow for two, with a shared...

This is my second review of Pachamama, and honestly, there is nothing that I can say that hasn't already been said many times on this site about Pachamama and Franz. I is a wonderful place to stay, to relax, and to listen to the ocean. But the host makes the experience. No matter what it is that you want to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pachamama Houses and Bungalows is the perfect place for people who like sports, nature, sun and beach. Only 1 km away is Cabo Blanco, the first national park created in Costa Rica, in 1963.We have two bungalows, each with a double bed and shared terrace for $60 a night, monthly $1400. A third bungalow is on a second floor with a double bed and private terrace. All lodgings are fully equipped with hammock, kitchen, fridge, fan, private bathroom with hot water. The house for rent has air condition and is fully equipped. There are 2 bedrooms, a beautiful terrace with BBQ, outside shower, hammock for $140 per night, monthly $2800. We have wireless internet, security 24 hours, private parking and cleaning service. It is the best option, for relaxing and enjoying the nature. We have a lot of wildlife in our tropical garden: butterflies, exotic birds and monkeys hanging around in the trees, and our coati, a sort of raccoon, which always comes to pick up his breakfast from us. The bungalows and the house are about 50m from the beautiful and quiet beach of Mal Pais. Here surfers find perfect waves year round. Air temperature is 30-35 degrees and water 24-26. We offer surfboard rentals and surf lessons. I'm a passionate kite surfer and if there is coming up some wind I'm in the ocean with a 16 m2 Kite. The wind is 15-20 knots from January to May. It is possible to rent a small house for $80 a night as well. It is fully equipped in a very beautiful and quiet place only 200m from the beach. Perfect location for 2 people. Monthly $1500We can reserve a hotel and transfer in San Jose, or book you a rental car in San Jose or in Mal Pais. ... more   less
