My wife and I were vacationing in Jaco with another couple and decided to rent a car to go zip lining at Vista Golfo. We are so glad we made the almost 2 hour drive! It was well worth it! This is exactly the experience we were looking for! We started with a delicious lunch overlooking breathtaking scenery. We then took the ride up to the starting point. The ride over rough mountain terrain was a fun part of the adventure—the views were amazing and we were afforded a glimpse of life in this remote region. After that— 25 lines over 11 waterfalls—the scenery was beautiful and the ride amazing! Emerson, Wagner, and Martin—our guides—were knowledgeable, attentive, and a lot of fun! We were a group of 4 retirees who are in decent shape but still not spring chickens. Our guides were patient and gave clear explicit directions at every station. We felt completely safe in their hands. When we returned to the restaurant/ hotel site we had the opportunity to talk with the owners—a lovely German couple. They were very gracious and welcoming. They shared more about what they offer to visitors. They have a small hotel on site—simple but comfortable. There is a pool, a garden maze, ropes course, and a rock climbing wall. They offer extremely reasonable packages that include hotel stay, zip lining, and other activities. When we returned to Jaco we were speaking with other travelers who had done zip lining closer to Jaco. When we described our experience the universal response was “Our experience was fun but nothing like that! We wish we had known about Vista Golfo!” If you are traveling to Costa Rica and zip lining is on your list, Vista Golfo is the place to go. It far exceeded our expectations! …
This was to be an experience of a lifetime. I always wanted to zip line in the rain forest of Costa Rica. It was a 45 minute drive from our ship. From the drop off point at the hotel it is a rugged 30 minute drive to the first zipline. Harnesses and safety instructions were given at the hotel. There were 25 zip lines in total over 11 beautiful waterfalls in addition there were two repelling stations. It is an arduous and at times slippery walk from one zip line area to the next. It can be quite dangerous for anyone with some mobillity issues. Two of the group of approximately 16 were in their 80's and found it extremely difficult. I completely understood that this was going to be a physically challenging adventure. What I was not prepared for for the negligence on the part of one of the guides. At each station one of the guides is placed at the landing area to apply the 'brakes' should an indiciall require it - coming in to the landing too fast. In my case my brake hand slipped off the cable and I was unable to brake. Unfortunately the brake perspon on the landing was inattentive / not paying attention and I crashed into a tree doing approximately 20 kph. I was flung back approximately 30 feet. There is no need to go into detail other than to say I am back home and I am receiving medical attention. The guide admitted his being in attentive and being responsible for the my crashing. The situation required me to be tandemed zip lined over the remaining 6 zip lines. It was quite painful. It appeared as though there was no medical equipment available to them at site and in fact there was no cell service. If limbs were broken or worse, it would would have been an drastic rescue situation. Upon my return to the hotel I was offered two bags of ice and nothing else. The owner / operators avoided me like the plague! I was not even offered a bottle of water. Upon the groups full return lunch was served as if nothing had occurred. Up to the writing of this review I have still not received even the slightest of apologies from this tour operator. Good adventure - so long as everything goes well. Accidents happen. But you can tell the quality of a company with how they deal with situations and people when things don't go well. In this regard this company FAILED miserably. Nice people - but it is easy to be nice when things are going well. Nice people can still do negligent things. They were relieved to see me dropped off at the cruise terminal. I am being encouraged to seek legal advise. Merry Christmas everyone.…
We have just spent 6 days at this hotel, and this was our second visit. If you are looking for the opportunity to connect with nature, this is the perfect spot. Their location is on the side of a mountain that overlooks the Nicoya peninsula and gulf, and offers great views of the sunset everyday, at an altitude of 700 meters. The resort is owned and operated by a German family. They are the most gracious hosts you can find, and they have a great team helping them run the hotel. They are extremely helpful and always willing to accommodate your requests. Facilities are not fancy, but they are comfortable, kept in good condition and their location is perfect for many different kinds of outdoor activities. During this last visit, we did the waterfalls tour which includes doing 25 different cable runs (canopy zip lines) and going over 11 waterfalls. A truly unique experience. The layout of the cables is perfect, going right through the forest. The longest run in this tour is about 400 meters. Another activity we did during our visit was the Superman flight. Also, a great experience. You fly over a forested area and in-between trees on a cable that is about 900 meters long. Highly recommended. The resort offers several other options for outdoor activities which you can customize to your liking, and the hotel team is also very helpful in organizing other tours outside of the resort, like a visit to the local beaches or a tour to Tortuga island or to a Cloud Forest located in one of the local preserves. Overall, this is a great place if you want to spend time in touch with nature and if you enjoy doing outdoor activities.…
The lodge is lovely, the food great, the staff wonderful and the zipline the BEST we have everdone!! Over 11 waterfalls with 2 repels that we easy for us 70 year olds!! We loved the knowledgeable helpful guides on our ziplines and the photos of us are Superb!!! Thanks to you all for a memorable adventure!!!
The Zipline adventure was so awesome! The staff and the people incharge during the actual “zipline activity” were so funny and kind too - we were able to learn our spanish thru them. 🤙🏼 (And the place Itself is so nice! )
My husband and I pre-booked a shore excursion in Miramar for our day in port to go zip lining. The Adventure Park was very good about email communication prior to our arrival, with instructions on what to do when we got on shore. The owner of the hotel met us at the pier with a sign that had our names on it, put us in a private taxi and sent us through the towns and 30 miles up into the mountains to the property. A great view of the land, people, nature, and an adventure in itself. We kept expecting to meet up with a group, but ultimately it was just US and 3 zip line guides on this day. We had a private experience on the zip lines. The staff was very friendly, spoke English, and made us feel at ease. The hotel, office, restaurant is all open air and you can take in the beauty around you, see the wildlife, amazing flowers and greenery right from the balcony of the dining area. As a note... This is a rustic style more native style adventure, do not expect state of the art anything, use bug spray, and make sure you have closed toe sturdy shoes to walk through the forest/over rocks/down steep steps, etc. and I suggest long pants. That being said, we were totally at ease and felt safe the entire time. The guides drove us way up into the mountains over bolders, across streams, over hills, and past reclusive homes. It was quite the trip that took over 30 minutes. Once we reached the top, we walked through the forest and began our zip line experience. This is a series of shorter-medium length lines, there were only 2 longer lines, but the views and the waterfalls were wonderful. You wear a harness, helmet and heavy gloves that are your brake. There is a safety brake that the workers have on the end of each line, but mostly you control how fast you come into each platform. We took a break half way through at the waterfall pools and took pictures here. We didn't swim as we were having too much fun on the lines. If you want to swim you need to wear your swimsuit under your clothes or be prepared to swim in your regular clothes and be wet the rest of the trip. Also, obviously no restroom facilities once you leave the hotel so be prepared to use a tree if you have to go. We really enjoyed our time and the guides were very friendly. Be prepared to tip each of your guides generously, your life was literally in their hands. Afterwards back at the hotel we were served a typical Costa Rican meal of rice, meat, beans that was tasty. Then we were put back in the same cab and returned to the ship pier.…
Just came back from Costa Rica and a glorious day ziplining with Juan, Wagner, and Enrique. We were guided with the utmost safety through 26 ziplines with breathtaking views of waterfalls, two of the lines involved rappelling down, and there was even a swim if you are up for it. We would feel comfortable with our 7 year old granddaughter doing this tour. After completion, a gourmet meal is served on the covered patio overlooking another panoramic view. This is a must do if you are anywhere close to this area.
Wow!! Hands down the most amazing experience I’ve ever had! We did the zip line tour and it was so beautiful! Pictures don’t do this experience justice. It does involve a little hiking through the jungle but I’m not in very good shape and I could do it. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had to drive 3 hours out of the way for this but it was well worth it!
We were a party of ten on a one night stopover. We had two rooms, one for 6 people and the other for 4. Both were excellent with great facilities, and mine had spectacular views across the valley to the gulf and the mountains around. Breakfast was great, and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. We wandered round the grounds and enjoyed the maze and the adventure playground, then used the lovely pool. All this before doing the Superman zip wire ride and the Tarzan tree swing. Guides were extremely helpful, especially with the younger children in our party. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed here almost by accident since it was new years eve and we arrived a day late due to plane rescheduling. The room was old, but perfect for a small family with 2 queens and 2 bathrooms. The gem here is the site with great views, a nice pool, kids activities and a great nature trail. Didn't try the ziplining as the entire area is typical dry Guanacaste style - we wanted the more "jungly feel". But overall would stop back on family trip. One small beware - the road is exceptionally curvy and hilly at night - a real white knuckler... suggest to arrive in daytime hours.
