Hotel Aurora looked very promising on booking.com and their website. When we arrived we saw there was a special offer for walk-ins (so making a reservation meant we were paying $10 more per night for no particular reason), and that both hot water and AC...More
Wow, dodged a bullet by not staying here. Saw them advertised on air BNB, but reviews said to book in person as it was cheaper. Got there, the front desk was rude not only to me, but two other customers in the lobby. They laughed...More
Hotel Aurora has a great location in Montezuma and is just 100 meters away from the beach that also has good snorkeling. Restaurants, stores, the bus station, & waterfall entrance are all nearby too!

We stayed here for 4 nights in Jan in a room with a/c (much needed after a day at the beach!)
Staff were friendly, kitchen area was moderately well equipped.

I always read only the bad reviews just to get a general overview of the biggest issues (sand on the floor and uncomfy pillows vs. no locks and recently filled with bed bugs).
If I understand correctly the management has been changed from 2013 and is taking at least on ground safety seriously. I also read from older posts that the hotel seemed to have some sort of mold problem or at least a "musty vibe". I understand that the environment is rainforesty and the over all humidity is high but has there been any effort to solving the problem OR is there a chance to book a room that would have the possibility to ventilate the room properly?
Thank you for your answers!
