The location and grounds are fantastic. The owners were very gracious and helpful. The site teems with wildlife and natural beauty. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden and the short walk to the beach area and downtown Puerto Jimenez.

We stayed here the night before and the night after visiting Corcovado. In general it was quite basic but exceeded expectations - there was good air con in the room and it was clean and comfortable. The garden area is absolutely lovely and attracts lots of beautiful birds. Watch out for the racoons raiding the kitchen after dark though! If you want to leave your bags while you’re at Corcovado you can, but the proprietor made a big deal about them not being fully secure unless we provided our own padlock.

My wife and I stayed three days at La Palapa Hut in January 2020 and our time here was both relaxing and enjoyable. Unexpectedly, we found the value of a dollar here to be absolutely unparralled anywhere. Our room was simple, yet with a comfortable, clean bed, air conditioning and a spacious bathroom (including hot water)-all for less than $40 USD/night. Also included here were wifi, free coffee in the morning, use of a shared kitchen and sheltered common area (lounge), cash bar, as well as use of the tranquil and serene grounds. No need really in going elsewhere to see monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds, they're all here on this spacious property. Lastly, Andrew, the proprietor here, is a prince of a man; friendly, accommodating, super knowledgable of the area, and quick to help out his guests or offer advice/recommendations.…

This place is a great place to stay if you’re looking for wildlife - as it comes to you! Surrounded by jungle - I saw spider monkeys, white faced capuchins, scarlet macaws, toucans, raccoons and the most stunning iguana without having to move that far! Andrew is an excellent host and does all he can to make your stay a great one. It is self catering - but there are a couple of supermarkets in close proximity. Otherwise Andrew can recommend local restaurants and Sodas.

The place is on a good central location and the common area is nice. It’s a great place to visit if you love birds. Also the pool is quite nice. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. Just don’t go camping there. You literally get an empty cheap tent, and all other items (air mattress) should be rented additionally. We rented one and our mattress lost all its air during the night so we slept on the floor.. we also found a hole in the tent and had an ant colony inside our tent. Of course it’s nature, but their camping equipment is not on par.. the rest is good and nice facility and the staff was helpful to us.

I stayed in the shared dorms at La Palapa. The place is just beautiful, surrounded by nature in the middle of the forest and really close to Puerto Jiménez downtown, less than 5' walk. Very comfortable 6 bed dorm with bathroom and fan. Many common areas. Full equiped kitchen. It also has private rooms. The only con which was really bad was the poor internet connection, just terrible, other than that definitely a place to come back.

I loved Jacqui and Andrew's place because it is the perfect rainforest getaway where rustic travel meets comfort! This place is surrounded by rainforest and a diversity of wildlife. I loved hanging out in the common area where we met travelers from all around the world! Jacqui and her staff were always available and made me feel right at home. They booked my tours, recommended local favorites and were fun to get to know. Jacqui is a world traveler and I really enjoyed chatting with her.

We had a lovely stay at Palapa hut / La Chosa de Mangler . The main hang out room is centered around beautiful gardens & Mangroves so you feel like you are in the jungle . A raccoon actually came and sat on my rooms balcony one day . The kitchen was great & well stocked with pans & utensils . There is a small but refreshing pool for the hotel guests . Andrew the manager was very helpful & accommodating to my group which was a great help . If you book a tent I would book one slightly larger than you think as the tents where quite small . The location is beside the small airport near the beach with a laundry at its entrance which is convenient . Al in all this place is a good , convenient & well priced place to stay while visiting the Osa Peninsula .

I loved my stay here and Palapa Hut & Puerto Jimenez was easily the best place I went in Costa Rica. I’d you are thinking about going, just do it - so much less aggressively touristy than other places like La Fortuna etc are. The whole local community felt really authentic and very laid back. Palapa Hut really feels like you are in the middle of nature with the beautifully tended plants all around you. The grounds are massive and it’s very enjoyable having a wander around. It’s amazing that this place is just off from the town and not in the middle of nowhere. What I really loved is the different animals wandering around. Some very large spiny iguanas made an appearance and scarlet macaws often flew overhead. It was really special and exciting to see what would pop up next! I heard that howler monkeys can appear in the tall trees there, but not on this trip for me. The dorms aren’t anything particularly special but perfectly functional, have air con and are affordable. The lady behind the counter was always really friendly and I enjoyed our chats every day. Thanks to you and the rest of the staff for such wonderful experience :)…
