The CreekSide Bungalow is an open room with 2 queen beds and 1 single, with mosquito nets and 12v fans. It has a private bathroom with hot water and an outdoor shower; a kitchenette area with propane stove and equipped with the utensils to cook yourself a nice meal; a lower deck with a dining and sitting area; and it’s surrounded by trees, gardens and a creek that runs during winter. All is made with beautiful local wood.It is located in Cabo Matapalo, in the worldwide known Peninsula de Osa, home to the famous Corcovado National Park, which holds 2% of the world´s biodiversity. It is an amazing place to experience the rainforest; the only place in Costa Rica where you´ll see the 4 different kinds of monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, agouties, coatis, whales and dolphins, and many birds and insects! We are just 50 meters away from Pan Dulce beach. Backwash is 5 minutes and Matapalo beach 15 minutes away, walking distance. You get to Corcovado National Park within an hour. Cabo Matapalo is the place where the rainforest and the sea meet, and was recently named one of the most ecological beaches around the world
We booked a couple months in advance for 2 nights in a ‘side creek cabin’, and exchanged several emails with them to arrange food, surfboard rental and practical issues. Once in Matapalo, when we showed up, our reservation was not found anywhere. After looking at the email, they finally found it and told us that they had forgot about it and the cabin was no longer available. In addition, the owner of the property was there on vacation, and he preferred not to have clients around, thus they offered us another accommodation on the side of the property. They also informed that the owner did not like clients to be around the swimming pool and at the restaurant and therefore we could not have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as originally agreed by email (only another expensive option is available in the surrounding area). While thinking of accepting this – no other choices - we received another message telling us that the owner was not comfortable, and he preferred that we did not come at all… They offered some alternative accommodation, very far from the beach, which we kindly declined. I have no words to describe this situation, in a place with very limited possibilities to find a room and food. Never again! I wish no other potential clients receive this horrific and unfair treatment. Certainly not the right way to deal with a business and treat clients. Think carefully before booking with them; you may find the ‘owner’ there and asked to leave the property before entering, simply don’t go there……

Where do I even begin? The magic of this resort lied within the people who were there to take care of us. Angelica, Felipe and Felipe were WONDERFUL hosts, laid back, fun and made our experience what it was. You've never tasted real food, until you've eaten a meal prepped by their hands. The food was filled with love and magic - Our rooms and the house was cleaned everyday and the property is very well maintained. Our hosts were wonderful to work with and they took care of all of our needs. Tip: Grab snacks and soda from the local market before you get to the resort. They come in handy for snacking between meals! Thank you for the beautiful experience!

First time visit to Cabo Matapolo for a holistic retreat in February 2020. We loved El Tumbo, the Villa is very spacious and had an open feel to it. The caretakers Felipe, Angelica and Felipe were amazing. The Villa has a main building that had 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms and 1 area with 4 single beds sharing a bathroom on the upper floor. There was also a hammock and rocking chairs overlooking the grounds and on to the ocean. You can also look down to the first floor that has an open kitchen on one side , seating area, and a bar on the other. Next to the kitchen there was a serving station, a large dining table and another elevated dining space with soft seating as well. Further down there are 2 tent like rooms that share a bathroom. Another few steps away is the Creekside bungalow and then a beautiful yoga shala. The Playa Pan Dulce beach itself is a few minutes walk from the Villa. It’s definitely rocky with crab type things crawling around, but regardless it was beautiful and you felt like just being there whenever you can. A 15 Mn walk brings you to Backwater beach, not rocky, more open and very few crabs. The best part of the Villa of course was the staff. We had vegetarian and low gluten people in our group and the creativity Angelica and Felipe had was beyond anything we have experienced anywhere. Every meal was different, every dish was spiced so flavorful and balanced. Never felt anything was overly spicy or oily. If anyone is looking for a place for a group that caters to vegetarian or vegans this would be the place I would recommend. Amazing creativity, taste, and service. The Villa has a Shepard dog(Dragon)that took care of everyone and followed us anywhere we went, excursions and all. He was a comforting presence. El Tumbo seemed to be on an animal highway, monkey crossing many times in the day, up to the roof of the house sometimes, hummingbirds constantly flying in and out of the house and Scarlett macaws coming in and out of the trees by the beach. The most surprising thing was the howler monkeys. I knew they woke you up early in the mornings with their howls, but I didn’t know that they literally sound like King Kong murdering a dinosaur rather than sweet monkey sounds. Oh well, we eventually got used to it. No negatives about this place, but in general the Osa Peninsula is very different. The heat and humidity is extreme, various bugs and critters, no air conditioning, and sensitive septic systems. But regardless, there is something about the Osa that makes you feel at home, and you figure out ways to navigate these things. Highly recommended!…

We spent about 8 days in this amazing eco-lodge in the middle of the jungle and steps away from the beautiful Pan Dulce beach. Felipe, Angelica and our chef Sandra were so amazing we could not ask for better service. The food they served was unbelievable!! 5 star authentic cuisine all made from scratch with the most unique flavors combined. We were all so impressed!! Felipe arranged a standup paddle-board Mangrove River Tour that was so serene and it felt like you were in the middle of a nature show on the Discovery Channel. If you haven't visited the Osa peninsula I would highly suggest it! You are surrounded by the most amazing wildlife, lush gardens and the beautiful beach with 80 degree water! Such an amazing experience, you will not regret staying here and experiencing the Osa!! :)…

We were so looking forward to our 5 day stay at Creekside Bungalow. The e-mails with Felipe & Angelica made us think that they were looking forward to having us as their guests. I had asked about a horseback riding tour and surf lessons and they said when we arrived they could help us arrange whatever we needed. We knew that we would have limited electricity for the mini fridge and that we would be given ice every 2 days for the cooler. We arrived about 5pm on Thursday with 3 days worth of groceries and one bag of ice to keep the food cool on the drive down. We were warmly greeted by Jose he showed us where things were in the bungalow and when we asked about the cooler with ice he said" No Ice". Felipe knew our dates of arrival and we feel that a cooler with ice should have been available to us when we arrived. Jose did turn on the mini frigde for 2 hours. The next day Friday, Jose arrived with our cooler and ice. He told us just to call his name and he would be around if we needed anything. On friday night Felipe called and said they were away on vacation and would be back on Sunday, if we needed anything ask Jose. On Saturday we looked for Jose and some other man came over and said that Jose was away, he would be back Sunday. On Sunday we expected and needed more ice and when we found Jose he said "No Ice". On Monday afternoon Felipe introduced himself and proceeded to tell us what a great time he had on vacation. When he asked how our time was we said all right. He asked if we needed anything and we both said Ice. Felipe dropped off ice at 7pm. The area is beautiful. The sounds of the waves lull you to sleep and the song of the howler monkeys wake you in the morning. The bungalow is in need of some care. The toilet seat is broken ,the inside shower head really needs to be replaced, the mini frige is so rusted out the door won't stay closed without placing the kettle full of water in front of it. Daily housekeeping, all of the dishes and pots were dirty we had to wash everthing before we used them. No dish clothes when we arrived or hand towels. A bit more attention by management would have made our stay more enjoyable. …

This is a wonderful place to spend a vacation with kids and the whole family in the middle of the wild juhe last frontier!!!ngle of Costa Rica! The last beaches and places in the Peninsula de Osa. It is the last frontier! See it now because in a few decades you will not be able to see nature in it's own splendor and magnificence!

Whether you are a surfer, hiker, yogi or just want to relax this place is for you. We had a wonderful stay at the bungalow. Located in the most gorgeous area of Costa Rica, walking distance to the beach and surf. The best part of the trip was our hosts Angelica and Felipe. They made us feel comfortable and took care of every detail. I highly recommend including the meals in your stay. The food is 5 star and that is an understatement! The bungalow itself is simple and charming. Teak furniture, a little kitchenette and two queen beds with a small single. We had maid service everyday and for a small fee you can also have your laundry done. Perfect for a group of 2-4. If you have any questions contact Felipe or Angelica the are a wealth of information.

I stayed with my sister and son at the bungalow for a week in June. The hosts, Angelica and Felipe were so great. We opted to include a light breakfast and dinner. The food was 5-star!! It is walking distance to several surf breaks and very open so the sounds of the rain forest abound. We did a day hike with a local guide which I highly recommend for the view and the information about native species. If you want to socialize there are a couple of places within walking distance. Go to Martina's for the homemade ice cream for sure!! A yoga instructor teaches pretty regularly on the property (El Tumbo has a beautiful open yoga deck and the main house is often used for yoga retreats) and the yoga instructor does Thai massage (Felipe or Angelica will arrange all this for you).
