Detailed Reviews
Not the easiest place to get to, Port Jim, but when here, Osa is awesome. Scarlet macaws as common as and squawkier than crows.
Hopped off the bus from Dominical at the T of Chacarita (a gas station & a diner): 2 hours plus for the connecting bus, so stuck out the thumb. Jose pulls over with his near-empty tomato truck. He gathers the groceries for the shop under Oro Verde (green gold & red gold). As long as I didn't mind going round the houses first in search of a crop of the red gold, I was welcome to bump along the back road to Port Jim with him.
The hostel's central, clean & comfy enough, and aye a cheery hello when I popped my neb in at the shop. An extra mark for Jose's hospitality shuttle.

I spent two night at Oro Verde Hostel.
For this price I got everything I needed. A comfortable clean bed in a shared room for 4 persons.
All rooms had sufficient fans so at night the heat was no issue which I highly appreciated.
The Hostel owner Juan is very friendly and helpful. If you have any issue, he will help you. I had several (cell phone broke down so no alarm clock, no universal charger, he let me use his computer).

I have stayed here many nights during my half year internship at the Osa Peninsula and never had a single negative experience. The place is nothing special but has just nice clean rooms with private bathrooms for very low prices. A small communal kitchen is present. The staff is always super friendly and helpful.

Stayed her for week until my new apartment was ready. Great staff. They gave me the room for $15.00 a night , included a tv , cold shower , but after a hot day it is great and it wakes you up in the morning . Get a room toward the mail street it will be cooler i stayed in the carate room . It is in the center of town , so everything is easy to get to.

When we arives after 12 hours of sitting in a bus we had to wait an hour before the owner came. He told us the hostel was full booked (eventhough we had booked) so he arranged an other hostel and told us to make it up to us the next morning. The next morning he took us on a crocodile tour, gave us a spacious room with free ac and he made a nice price for us.
After the 2 day corcovado tour we went back to his hostel and they gave us another (spacious) but less nice room. The room was moist, could use some paint and the light didn't work...

All in all, a nice place to stay. There were 5 people staying in the room I was in, and all of us thought that the location was perfect, rooms were relatively clean and prices were really good. The owner who went by the name of simply 'jan' was absolutely incredible. Took us to feed Crocodiles and Caymans and even went out in the dark to see florescent Plankton. The only bad part about this hostel is that the room we were in (room 5) had a rancid smell coming from the small bathroom we had in the room. It was a very horrible smell and made just walking around in the room difficult. However, the other rooms that friends stayed in smelt absolutely fine. All in all, good hostel.

I arrived late at night in Puerto Jimenez and stayed only one night. The hostel was already fully booked, but the girl working at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. She called the owner. who came to pick me up at the hostel and brought me to his house, where I rented a little studio with kitchen for only US$15.
The studio was clean and had everything you need; bedroom with living room and kitchen. Hostel as well as owner's house are located close to the town center as well as supermarket.
The next morning, Ian, the owner, drove me to the port where I caught a boat to Golfito. Everyone was extremely friendly and I felt really welcomed.
Can totally recommend the place when you go to Puerto Jimenez.
Muchas gracias!

extremely helpful staff: they made our trip way easier and less complicated. They arranged tickets and a guide for the nationalpark and even lend me some equipment!
Of course the rooms are not luxurious, but it´s good for the price you pay. - and it´s clean!
definitely recommend it (espec. for backpackers)!

Owner was absolute lovely! Went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing stay and helped us with groceries walking back from the supermarket/with our bags from the bus station too. He took us to feed alligators and turtles just because he thought it'd be a nice thing to do!
very cheap washing, fast free wifi, good kitchen facilities, comfy beds and fans in all the rooms!
Overall awesome stay and would definitely go back when in Puerto Jiminez

Stayed with large group here twice before completing Osa trail trek and then after.
Owner ~ Manilla (pronounced Man-eu) was super helpful ~ picked us up from bus station with all our backpacks, helped with bus bookings, helped with bookings of meals, took us to see crocodiles/caiman, helped transport our camp food for 5 days for group of 20 from supermarket..... and always greeted us with a smile and "no problem".
Rooms are clean, have fans for some firm of air condition (some rooms have air condition units but this is an extra charge). Beds were comfortable, and rooms had cool showers and clean toilets.
Hostel also offers quick laundry service.
Little supermarket below which is open late - ideal place to buy a cool drink.
Located near bid supermarket and many places to eat, get coffee, and near bakery & fruit shop.
I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone stating in Puerto Jimenez.
