The Danta Corcovado Lodge has individual wooden cabins scattered in the rain forest around the wooden main dining cabin, which has open sides. Everything has wooden floors and was built by the owner using local woods to be ecologically green. Our cabin (Cara Tigre) was spacious (could sleep 6, three each in two bedrooms, one of which has a queen bed) with a lovely open-to-the-sky (but very private) bathroom and near the dining cabin. The very large common room was covered but open to the outside. The bedroom was enclosed by screening and had mosquito netting draped over the very comfortable bed. There is no air conditioning but the ceiling fans keep the temperature down for a great night’s sleep. The only downside was that we were woken each morning by the rooster of a nearby house instead of jungle noises. The meals were superb with eggs, fruit, crispy bacon, rice and beans, fried plantains, pancakes, bread, orange juice, coffee, and tea for breakfast. Lunch was almost as as good and filling as the excellent dinners. For dinner, we had an appetizer, a choice of one of two main courses (we had beef tenderloin, sautéed pan fried snapper, and chicken shishkabob) and a dessert. The Lodge was also excellent in meeting any dietary restrictions. The service could not have been more pleasant and helpful.

Great location from which to launch your birding adventure on the Osa Peninsula. The room are lovely looking huts made from local wood. In fact the dining room and all the furniture in it was made from trees locally harvested. The room we stayed in had an open air shower/toilet which gave the stay an "out in the wilderness" feel. The lodge has several excellent birding trails and a nice metal tower from which to watch for raptors, hawks and Scarlet Macaws. Wonderful treatment by all the staff.

I booked Danta through hotels.com and kept struggling whether i should stay there before i go because it seemed a bit far from everything and difficult for me to get there. But i was so glad i decided to give it a go and turned out Danta became my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica! I arrived Danta after dark so couldn't see the room and its surrounding clearly. But once i saw the lodge and the rainforest surrounded on the next day, i quickly decided to extend my stay for one more night to make it 3 nights in total as i found myself loving this place so much that i didn't want to leave! The lodge room was huge and super clean. The bathroom was actually open air (with roof) but i only saw 2 or 3 bugs during midnight. Actually it was the cleanest lodge room i ever stayed and without much bug issues comparing to other rainforest lodges i stayed in similar setting in other countries. I loved to sit outside my room reading and listening to constant bird singing. The lodges are far from one another so felt like i have a space that only belongs to me but not lonely because so many wildlife surrounded me.

The service in Danta was exceptional. The staff were always there to serve and help. The food served in the restaurant was fabulous. I had 3 dinners, shrimp, beef steak and tuna steak, and one lunch. They were all very tasty. I loved the tuna steak the most! I basically cleaned every plate i had in Danta.

I had morning trekking and night tour in the lodge and also joined one day hike in Corcovado national park. I enjoyed all the tours arranged by the hotel very much. The guide Juan was very professional and knowledge. He was like ready to answer questions all the time.

This lodge also offered a few trails for trekking. The path was rustic at some point but that was the charm it offered, isolated from human but only rainforest and wildlife were with you.

Last i want to say thank you for all the staff in Danta. You made a great effort to make it a beautiful memory for all the guests staying there and i really appreciated it.

Arriving in the dark, it was difficult to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, but one thing was clear right away- the people who work at Danta Lodge care about each of their guests. David greeted us, took us to our room, gave us a quick tour, and then served us a wonderful dinner. That was the first meal of several that we enjoyed over the next three days. The food was excellent whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu is small, but the options are diverse enough to meet anyone's tastes. The Tuna Steak was so good, I had three of the four nights. Bernie was another excellent server. We took three tours- Corcovado Park, Night Tour and Bird Watching tour. Juan Luis was so knowledgeable and we learned a great deal from him. The Orquidea bungalow we stayed in was so cool- open air washroom, clean and comfortable beds, and excellent wifi. Be prepared for lots of sounds in the night as the forest comes alive. This stay was definitely a highlight of our time in Costa Rica.

I thought this was a wonderful experience. The lodge was hard to find - signs very old and easy to miss. Definitely get there in the daylight. The lodge was very ecofriendly and comfortable. The grounds outside the lodge could have been a bit more groomed, meaning clean up some dead foliage. The food was very limited but great. Highly recommend a guide to see birds and definitely take in the night hike. Our guide was Jairo Alpizar and he was an amazing guide and photographer.

This was my second stay at Danta Corcovado. The first was in 2010 and this time was December 2022. Merlin, the owner, has gone above and beyond by creating a lodge and rooms that are works of art in a beautiful, cared for, fascinating and beautiful rainforest. Being there and seeing all of his hand-carved furniture, animal statutes, and small, thoughtful touches is like being in a dream. There is so much care and attention given to make guests feel comfortable. The meals are excellent, as is the service and the drinks. There are enough trails on the property to keep you busy, as well as tours to the renowned Corcovado Park. We had endless enjoyment and enchantment seeing monkeys (howler, squirrel, capuchin) from our front porches, toucans at the bird lookout, sunrises and sunsets, and frogs at night. I hope to return again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved the place, although the first night we were a bit frightened of the jungle noises outside our lodge which was a few hundred yards from reception along unlit gravel paths! The lodge itself is clever designed with two walls being almost entirely netted windows and an outside bathroom which took a little bit of getting used to. It was an incredible structure and design . The beds were very comfortable and clean and the room was fairly well-sealed from the outside environment, although the occasional spider did breach.

The food was excellent, we ate breakfast and dinner all 3 nights and loved the fish with basil sauce, chips, and tuna steak. The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly at all times. Omelettes at breakfast were great served with gallop pinto, and lovely tropical fruit selection every morning plus fruit juice. The coffee is good, as with most places we stayed in Costa Rica. There is tea and coffee available throughout the day which we enjoyed sitting in the reception area, watching the spider monkeys in the trees directly above.

I spent 2 night here and I wish it was 7 nights. The property is beautiful. The restaurant is excellent. The staff attentive, friendly and accommodating. Plus there's Maya :) I was in one of the bungalows and it was beautiful. Nicely secluded and very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The linens crisp and clean. The deck with hammock a peaceful joy. Unlike many places you can spend lots of quiet time here as villas and guests are well spread out. The property has a significant trail system you can wander with wildlife and beautiful scenery. The meals were all delicious so I felt no need to leave during my stay. I had just finished hiking Corcovado national park when I arrived and it was quite a nice stay. The staff can arrange for many tours locally such as coffee and chocolate farms, kaya trips on nearby Golfo Dulce, local hikes, and on site night walks where you can see frogs, spiders, insects, lizards and more. On site tour guide Juan Luis was excellent in his knowledge and enthusiasm. Staff member David was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Overall a truly wonderful place I'd love to visit again. The loose gravel road leading to it is brief and not very rough at all. I Highly recommend this for anyone seeking a wonderful getaway.

We loved this place. It was easy to drive to Danta Corcovado using the directions provided by Waze or google maps. The lodge area, the cabins, the trails and the canopy tower in the dense forest made it special. We were It is within a kilometer of the village of Guadalupe which is within a couple kilometers of the slightly larger town of La Palma. (FYI, La Palma has a very large grocery store.) The road was a very flat, very good gravel road. We stayed for three nights and ate our breakfast and evening meal at the Lodge. Breakfast and dinner times are flexible. There were about six choices for either breakfast or dinner. Meal times were flexible. Staff was always available to answer questions. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the delightful cabins. Several cabins are located in the same general area of the forest but are separated by vegetation so you don't see your neighbors.

A great place to commune with and observe nature . There’s no need for curtains as there is no one to see in and no light to shut out. The jungle noises send you to sleep and wake you in the morning. It’s hot but the room is cooled with a fan and fresh air. Toucans,Macaws, squirrel and cappucin monkeys are all around, along with various butterflies including the blue morph.

The cabins are kept really clean, food is good and there is a beach 20 minutes away as well as tours etc. Staff friendly and go out of their way to help.

I'm assuming you are going with the guide that Danta Lodge provides--if not, you should. The Lodge has rain boots in all sizes; when we went it was the beginning of the rainy season and we definitely needed the boots. If it's dry, sneakers would have been fine. Again, if you are going with Danta, the river crossing will be on a vehicle, so you won't need to have water shoes. There is a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole, where it helps to wear your sneakers because of the rocks.

We did a package, with Danta, La Leona, and Saladero, which included rooms, food, tours, transportation between the properties--pretty much everything. It was WELL worth it.
