Excellent food and service. One would never believe in such good quality or service in a non touristic place. Absolutely super steak and seafood soup. Good stock of wine for fine dining and knowledgeable service by Kenneth. Coconut flan for dessert and carillo with some orange rinds was amazing.
Pretty seafood restaurant on the lagoon near Puntarenas. Seafood was very fresh a deliciously cooked. Take a short detour from the main higway and find this hidden gen in a little village by mangrove lagoon.
This restaurant offers a wide and international seafood menu although they also have great options of meat and poultry, among others. Food quality is very good and the service is also fine. Fresh fish or lobster are a must if you visit them.
We stayed at this small family owned hotel the night before our Windstar Cruise and loved it! Disclaimer - if you are looking for the Marriott, stay somewhere else (like the Marriott), but if you want a local experience, I highly recommend the Costa del Sol. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very helpful and patient with our poor language skills, Our group of 10 had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. The service there was rather slow, but the food was wonderful. Our group really enjoyed the lounge area on the 2nd floor as a space to relax and enjoy the views. There was a nice breakfast included the following morning and before checking out, we used the pool. This required a short walk down the street to the owners other property. We were a little apprehensive but the pool area was actually very nice. When we asked about getting a transfer to the port to meet our cruise, the owner and his son packed up our luggage and drove us to the port. In short, this was the perfect place to spend an evening before our cruise.…
Stayed for 4 nights after a long tour through Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica. We were looking for a tranquil time before continuing our Central American tour. Everything thing about this little gem was wonderful. The owners and their staff were brilliant, nothing was too much for them. Breakfast and dinner was great. Everything was fresh and tasty. The speciality was fish which we had every night. With a comprehensive fish menu and the restaurant signature dish paella nothing could go wrong. Our suite overlooked the lagoon and was beautifully decorated. The beds are so comfortable it has been difficult to leave! We could not recommend this heaven of tranquility too highly.
This place was recommended by our Airbnb and not sure if we caught them on a bad day or what but it was a terrible experience. A party of eight we waited for about 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. The restaurant was empty except for another table of 2 which were seated after us and we watched get their appetizer before our server came over. Server when he did arrive was rude and unhelpful. Rolled his eyes several times and just acted like it was the last place in the world he wanted to be. Never came back to offer us more drinks and just gave us one bill without asking how we wanted it split. Food itself was ok but very overpriced. Perhaps If we had had better service we wouldn’t have noticed. Will not be back!
After recently arriving back in San Jose, CR and heading back up to Guanacaste, my family and I got caught up in some nasty traffic that jammed up the roads for almost 24 hours. We all needed to rest, wash and eat. I found Costa Del Sol hotel in a quick search on TA and the reviews all looked good. I was very happy to find that the reviews were genuinely accurate. The rooms were clean and ready, comfortable and spacious. The rest of the hotel looked spotless and was nicely decorated. It is a great waterfront location with a great west facing sunset view in the evening. I had pepper steak for dinner and it was a huge piece of beef and really really good. One of the best I have had for a long time. Kids had chicken and chips and that was great too. Breakfast was traditional Gallo Pinto and plentiful plus coffee and fruits. The staff were all friendly and helpful too. At $70 for a family room including taxes and breakfast it is great value for money. Would stay there again on my trips to and from San Jose if needed without hesitation.…
I just checked into the hotel and came downstairs for dinner. The ambiance in the whole place, including the restaurant, is fabulous, elegant and inviting. The steak was huge and a little undercooked for a medium rare, but was probably because the steak was so thick and meaty and tender. I will let you know about the hotel experience, if TA will let me edit this later.
Visited the place with a group of 18 persons. Service was a bit slow do to the size of the group. Food was Excellent and the view of the lagoon breathtaking. Place is close to the beach. The fresh lobster is picked out of the fish tanks and taken directly to the kitchen to prepare your plate. Can’t get any fresher than that
We stayed at this small family run hotel for 2 nights prior to going on a Windstar cruise. The owners are orignally from Croatia and make you feel one of the family. Get a room with a balcony overlooking the lagoon. It is a birdwatcher's paradise. Then go downstairs in the fabulous seafood restaurant overlooking the lagoon. The local fishermen deliver their catch early in the morning. We had some of the best seafood we ever had, fresh seabass, grouper, jumbo shrimp, paella valenciana and bouillabaise with a whole lobster tail in it. EXCELLENT. Lots of interesting conversations with the owners who also run a bar across the street with a nice swimming pool the guests of the hotel can use. While dining we saw lots of stingrays and other fish swim by, an unforgettable experience. The owners will drive you to the Windstar embarkation point which you can see from the hotel, no need to take a taxi, what personal service!! We booked a private transfer through booking.com from the airport in San Jose, did not want to rent a car because you must return it to San Jose and our cruise ended in Panama. The private driver was waiting at the airport with a large van and it took 11/2 hrs leisurely drive to this hotel. The transportation was also a lot cheaper than that offered by the cruise line. If we are ever in this part of Costa Rica again will definely stay at Hotel Costa Del Sol.…
