This hotel is close to the airport and we stayed here on our first night and last night in Costa Rica and were very happy with it. The hotel is spacious, has a nice pool and restaurant, and the rooms were clean and decent sized. We found the restaurant to be surprisingly high quality and really enjoyed meals, drinks, and the breakfast buffet. Everyone spoke English much better than we spoke Spanish and the staff was very friendly with every contact we had. While this probably isn't where you want to stay for a week or to base your trip to Costa Rica around, it is a great place to stay near the airport.
Booked 2 nights at the Doubletree Cariari because we had a late night arrival into SJO and they have free airport shuttles until 1:30am. Didn’t realize they were more like a resort than an airport hotel with room service until 3am. We were expecting to starve our first night since we checked in at 1am, so that was a pleasant surprise. Full breakfast buffet complete with omelette bar. Lovely pool area with both pool and hot tub. 2nd floor rooms overlooking the pool have balcony patios, while the 1st floor pool rooms have direct pool access and go straight into the pool area. Beautiful colonial style design in the rooms and grounds. Walking distance to a grocery store, bank branch for ATM withdrawals, and different restaurants including sushi, Chinese food, and pizza. The hotel definitely exceeded expectations and is much more than an airport hotel. Highly recommend.…
This is a great hotel to stay at while in San Jose Costa Rica. I stayed approx. 4 months on business and was never disappointed. The staff is excellent, very positive attitude and always happy to help out with whatever you need. I obviously spent a lot of time in the restaurant and bar and the staff there is very personable and awesome. Great food. It is close to San Jose and only 15 min from the airport. There are different restaurants across the street 3 min walk, if you want something else. Or 10-15 min with car to the new big Mall (Oxigeno Mall). If you want a refrigerator you will need to ask in reception and they will put one in your room. Unfortunately they do not provide microwaves but the restaurant is very happy to warm up any food you want warmed up. Pool area is fantastic. They have a good gym. However, two of the four tread mills were out of order but hopefully fixed by now. The birds can be a bit noisy in the morning hours during the dry season but that is Costa Rica nature (I used gel ear plugs (from Amazon) a few times). This is a great hotel with excellent service for the right price. I am going back there during my next trip.…
This hotel tries to squeeze every last cent out of its guests. Before I even arrived, I received 3 different emails encouraging me to pay more to upgrade. Upon arrival, I was told that the hotel does not offer a free breakfast and that it costs $20 per person! It was so bare bones that we did not even have a bottle of water in our room. Though the rest of the room appeared clean, the shower glass door was very dirty. Even though they advertise themselves as an airport hotel, the front desk said it generally takes 20 minutes to get to the airport with traffic and there was tons of traffic even at 6:30AM – it actually took us 30 minutes to get there! The free shuttle only leaves once an hour on the hour. The pool was cold and only 1 light was turned on so that it was unpleasant to swim after dark. But the absolute worst thing that shows how stingy this hotel was is that they only have free coffee in their lobby from 4AM – 6 AM. I purposely set my alarm so I could get the coffee before 6am. I arrived in the lobby at 5:58 AM and pulled down the lever on the coffee and noticed that the canister was empty. I went up to the front desk to tell Luis that the coffee was empty and ask if he could refill it. He looked at his watch and snobbishly said, "Actually it is now 6AM, and the free coffee is finished." I couldn't believe it. I paid $155 for one night at this hotel and couldn't even get a free cup of coffee. Luis was extremely rude to me and only after I got upset did he grudgingly allow me get a TINY cup of coffee from the restaurant.…
This hotel satisfied everything I was hoping for and more. Close to airport and shuttle was prompt and men were outside helping to meet the shuttle. It is a beautiful hotel and with all the plants and architecture immediately said you are in Costa Rica. Quick check in and large room, very clean, and very comfortable bed. The pool area and restaurant are comfortable and servers were first class. Food was good and one day we went across the street for breakfast at Moose and enjoyed that. this is a beautiful hotel and I will stay here again if I return to Costa Rica. This place checks all the boxes I had and the cookies are really good., I highly recommend.
This hotel is a favorite for my family and me when we fly in and out of San Jose. The pool is amazing, location to airport convenient, and the restaurant serves delicious food (try the buffet!). There is a small mall just next door with a good grocery store, and several separate restaurants. Great place.
Excellent stay! We spent two nights at the beginning of our Costa Rica trip. The hotel is 10 minutes away from the airport and they have have shuttle but it only runs once every hour. We got a suite and it was great, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one in suite. The pool was OK, crowded and not enough seats for everyone. Breakfast was great. Amazing gym. Nice staff!
Beautiful property. Great for easy access to San Jose airport. We arrived during happy hour at the bar and by happy hour I mean FREE DRINKS! The rooms are nice and spacious filled with all the necessities. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a hotel near the airport. Provide shuttles back and forth. Breakfast buffet and dinner from the restaurant was delicious!
I’m a light sleeper and was concerned about noise due to proximity to airport, but our room was great: very quiet, clean, & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and staff were very friendly. We’d definitely stay here again.
I was blown away by this hotel- I thought it being so close to the airport, that it would be a bland, concrete 'airport' hotel/motel. It is far from it - it's beautifully designed interior was a shock. It has gardens and a garden/park across the street too. It has a nice pool with a swim up bar, nice large rooms, a tasty restaurant and fantastic staff - I won't stay anywhere else in San Jose, from here on out.
