Stayed here three weeks, yes 3 weeks, from 17 October to 7 November. It's uphill from the other hotels along Avenida Central and is a blessing for those that have allergy and sinus problems that are aggravated by diesel and other vehicle exhaust that is all over the main drag. Even so it is still a short walk to the... More

I went out bar-hopping downtown a few nights ago and went by the Sportsmens Lodge, which apparently the locals call the "SL." I had been there a few months ago during the early afternoon and it was quiet -- about 3 or 4 guys at the rather large bar and a few girls hanging out in the back area of... More

This is a Sports bar/hotel with the flair of a frat house. The hotel has the vintage Costa Rica look with many modern large screen TV through out the bar area. If it is on the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, or Nascar, you will be able to watch it there. Oh, soccer too! All the staff from owner to housekeeping... More

This place is a little out in the cut from avenida central. The place has a sports bar/pick up bar. Not sure if its past its heyday or not. Seems like a bunch of mostly old timers. Wasn't too happening on a Friday night, unless it gets packed after 9.

This is an adults only hotel. This is an old mansion that the owner has expanded over the years and updated. It has a quirky layout because of this. But the staff from the front desk to security to the bar tenders can't be beat. The food in the restaurant is above average for Costa Rica and the bar scene... More

I was here for food and happy hour. They have daily happy from 4 to 7 pm where beers and wine are $2. The food was pretty good but expensive like the rest of costa rica. I had a steak for $13 which was okay but not great. However, the steak would cost much more elsewhere. The sportsbar was great with... More

This happened to be my second visit to the Sportsman along with my friends Mike and Chris. My main purpose in this review is not concerning the lovely local ladies that frequent the establishment but more so on the Staff that can so often make or break a vacation. Let me start with Security since they are normally the first... More

Adults Only. A good small resort located in Barrio Otoya. (Next to the zoo). A good resturant accompanied with an outstanding international sports bar. Eight screens, covers all U.S. Team sports, as well as Football from South America, and Europe. Their security is excellent and the staff are generous with customer service. The resort caters primarily to a male clientele.💕👍😍

Never stayed here but watched a couple of NFL games one evening here and the place has a great atmosphere and ambience. The bar served chilled beer and excellent mixed drinks, we dined here post game and food was really good for a sportsbar. May even stay a night or two on my next trip to SanJose. Place looks interesting.
