This is my favourite hotel in San Jose, and I've stayed there many times, for a number of reasons; It's very SAFE. As a woman traveler, this is always a Number 1 priority and I always feel safe at the Hemingway Inn. In addition: 1. Clean rooms, uniquely decorated. Beds are comfortable and generally there is hot water available for...

Close to the city center, restaraunts, ATMs. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was delicious. Internet was free, but availability and speed depended on where in the room you were. We had a corner room with windows on the street so it was a bit noisy, nothing earplugs at night couldn't fix. The room itself wasn't all that...

My husband and I stayed a night after ending our month long vacation. The hotel room was old and a feel of being at home in your own bed. Though I think they should use all white sheets to give the room a more clean look. The fan gives a squirting noise that should need to be fixed. The lighting...

Well, if you consider dirty rooms that are old and very poorly furnished old world charm, then this is the place for you. Yes, the staff can be nice, but they can also be very unhelpful at times. It is well located if you want to be near downtown and some great restaurants. However, it is on a corner of...

We found the place on hotels.com a couple of hours before arrival. It is basic, but very charming. The staff is great, helpful and very friendly! Nice restaurants close by and a very short walk to city centre. We were allowed to park right in front of the door and felt very safe.

This is a decently priced boutique hotel with an Ernest Hemingway theme. The staff made my stay there GREAT! They have tours that you can book right there and pick you up there. Tours range from downtown San Jose to several volcano's to the beach and more. You won't be disappointed, and the price is very close to the tours...

Fantastic people here! My girlfriend and I took a spontaneous trip to Costa Rica and we booked a room here for a week. For the price, it was just what we needed. We had a small bedroom with a bathroom. Right from the beginning the staff made it very warm for my gf and I. They answered every single question...

Charming old building, rooms are clean and well looked after. The entire hotel just oozes old world charm. Lovely murals on the walls, reading area, and courtyard. It's walking distance to all the main attractions of the city, but it's just far enough out that you get quiet. Owners are wonderful people!! Also a really good breakfast for 5USD
