Central location was brilliant. Room was large and comfortable. Comfortable bed and great pillows. The service in the hotel was brilliant, really friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay and would go back. The breakfast was good too, but restaurant service was a little slow and patchy.
Parking was great. My room key didn’t work three times. AC in my room was broken and had to switch rooms. No windows except into a shaft way. Room dark and depressing. Also there is no where to get hot water to make coffee or tea in (or even near) the rooms. I do t understand how there is no where in the entire hotel to make coffee anytime.
The hotel is at central location, surrounded by restaurants pharmacies supermarkets and shops of all kinds. All within 1-3 min walking. Safe place. Front desk staff are nice. But Restaurante staff don’t seem very motivated. Breakfast is simple with 5 choices. No buffet. Facility is good but bit old, nothing exceptional. Beds are comfortable and showers are hot with good flow. Some people may like the fact that the hotel is one of the main hotel locations for day tour pick ups.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We had multiple changes because of family that was staying some nights but not others and the staff handled it all w professionalism and understanding. They wanted our stay to be ‘pura vida’!.
We slept comfortable and our car was safe. Good breakfast and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed having MTV 00's playing. Helpful staff opened the gate when we arrived really late at night.
First night in Costa Rica, had dinner at El Patio in hotel Balmoral. Our server, Alexander was great! He had good recommendations and helped us learn a few Spanish words while we were there. The food was good. The prices reasonable.
We stayed at Balmoral for 8 days. We originally had a reservation of over 15 rooms for business. We had great service by the restaurant downstairs. Each Person was very friendly and helpful and helped us with basic questions regarding San Jose. We had a horrible time with the Event planner Mitchel she was rude, and treated us with the most horrible customer service we have ever experienced. We ended up moving our event to a separate location. Astrid was very helpful with all of our logistics and each one of the receptionists helped us accommodate our guests and helped with access to the hotel during different arrivals. I look forward to returning but hope that they have a better event planner on staff.
Good location for the centre of San Jose. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The family room was really good and spotless. Food was ok there but breakfast was limited to 4 choices, I only had a Cuban sandwich one afternoon which was really good, came with fries.
being in downtown San Jose can be daunting however staying here at the Balmoral provided us a perfect, safe and comfortable location that is only one step away from the busy happenings of the daily works of this big city. The staff, from check-in to the valet parking of your vehicle to keep it safe was kind and welcoming.
La reception nos admitió las 2 de la tarde nosotros venimos por el avión se adelantó , varias horas the breakfast was a deception , as I was used to budget at my earlier stays , I don’t eat much , muy I was expecting bufet , the menu , didn’t allow for rye bread , but at extra cost yes This can be done better
