A charming Victorian mansion made into a hotel. The public areas are very beautiful, lots of dark wood and green plants, wooden carvings and a fountain. You can use the two jacuzzis and the gym, just remember to book them (for free). Breakfast is served to tables and is nice (not included), and the dinner at the same restaurant was exactly what I needed after the long flight. The location isn’t too bad, if not ideal, some 1.5 kilometres from the centre. You can walk or take a taxi. The best part was the personnel - everyone was very polite and flexible, a late check out was arranged as all the info and service (like taxis) I needed. The worst part was my room (number 15). The size was ok for one person (if you’re used to the European size hotel rooms rather than the US size). It was somewhat dim, the only window was to a tiny inner yard, and since the room was on the ground floor, no daylight ever reached it. The worst part about the ground floor room were the ants. I spotted a few on my arrival but didn’t think anything of it, you’ll always have some insects in the tropics. On my second day I woke up to find my bed full of ants. (See photo and video.) Perhaps they had been there the previous night as well, but I’d been so dead tired I hadn’t noticed them. They didn’t bite but still a bad experience. When I informed the personnel I was told it means I’m sweet. If you decide to stay here, I would recommend to ask a room from somewhere else than the ground floor.

We spent the night at this beautiful hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica on March 25, 2021. The staff were very kind, our room was beautiful and clean and our room had a lush garden right outside of the window. Beautifully colored birds serenaded us during the day from the trees that you could touch from our open window. I love baths so I was pleased that they had a very comfortable tub. It was a perfect stay and we wished we could have stayed a few more nights! We had supper in their restaurant, which was absolutely delicious with the happiest and kindest waiter that we felt like he was a family member that we LOVED!

Great 1 night stay to start our trip in Costa Rica. After waiting in customs for almost three hours, my wife and I were in a foul mood. However, the staff made us feel immediately better with a smooth check in. Perfect for one night - comfortable beds, beautiful setting, nice location. Highly reccomend.

Very comfortable hotel, nice dining room and good food. Odd setting with neighboring properties with razor wire but that seemed very prevalent in Dan Jose. Good stop over place. The jacuzzis on the open but sheltered deck were great after a long flight. Would give it 5 stars but it was too bad it felt uncomfortable to walk outside.

Very comfortable rooms, very accommodating staff. A perfect place for a two night stay. I was most impressed with the extra mile the staff went to in order to get us Covid tests when we found out we needed them in order to fly back to the US. They snapped into action and majorly helped us get it taken care of. I really appreciated it!
