This was our 11th year to stay at the Grano de Oro on our annual trip to Costa Rica. We keep going back because of the service. Everyone seems truly to be glad you are there and want to help make your stay wonderful. We love the rooms and the great restaurant also. Just wish we could spend more time... More

We just returned from a night at the Grano de Oro hotel in San Jose and loved it. The service was superb and the food in the hotel restaurant was equally wonderful. We were greeted at the front desk with fresh juice and a room upgrade we hadn't anticipated. If you are needing a relaxing and quality experience in San... More

Visited the restaurant at Hotel Grano de Oro in February. We were a party of 6. Were seated immediately. The property is absolutely gorgeous. Huge, old Victorian/Craftsman decor, so beautiful. The server was very attentive, spoke both English and Spanish. Very creative breakfast entrees, and reasonably priced. Everyone was very happy with their choices (Tico breakfast, American breakfast, omeletts, pancakes,... More

My initial reservation was broken into 2 parts. A standard room for 1 night and a deluxe for 3. They gave me a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room the first night so I could stay in the same room all 4 nights. The front desk has been extremely helpful helping me get around San Jose--polite and professional without going... More

We stayed here last time we went to Costa Rica and loved it. They have redone it so a bit of the charm is gone, but still very nice. In the middle of the city, it is so peaceful and quiet, it was perfect. That part we loved. The staff is amazingly nice and helpful. The restaurant is expensive, but... More

My husband and I enjoyed a one night stay at the start of our recent CR trip. It was our first time in San Jose, but our 5 th in the country. I rate this hotel 4 stars for it's overall atmosphere, spacious rooms, good bed and clean bathroom. The restaurant was also excellent, though the food is quite rich!... More

This hotel is just a gem sitting in San Jose. We enjoyed a deluxe room overlooking the garden. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. Other rooms on the same floor were standard and smaller. The hotel is a terrific restaurant, arguably the 1st or 2nd rated restaurant in all of San Jose. The service was excellent as was the... More

Sure the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, but good service isn't everything. The hotel is located in an ugly neighborhood. I took a walk around the block, and all I saw was iron fences and barbed wire. The hotel looks very out of place. The inside is very charming, and has a B&B feel to it. My room... More
