The hotel needs further renovation. During our first stay, we had a room on the ground floor. During the next stay, we had a room on the second floor. In both rooms the toilet barely flushed, if at all. The beds are decent. The breadfast was not very good. Due to groups leaving early, and the breakfast being served on...

Dear Client, Thank you for your comments, we again apologize for this big misunderstanding. As we explained that day there was a mixup with the client's names. We hope therefore that you did enjoy the upgrade you received to our master Suite. We are a small personalized hotel, people leaving and walking on corridors can be heard. We of course...

Intrepid Travel use this hotel as a launching pad for their Costa Rica holidays, so we had a one night stay here last month. Small from the outside but big inside (hence the title of my review) this hotel was the home of a local politician in the 1920/30's. The bedrooms and common areas are old fashioned, but spacious and...

"Don't judge a book by its cover" is an old saying that applies to this hotel. From the outside it looks like an old house, but on entering it, you realise that it has a lot more to offer. Although the word 'hotel' is a misnomer, probably the terms 'lodge' or 'home-stay' or 'B&B' would more suit this place. Its...

Stayed here with g adventures. The staff send couple who run the place are great. This is a historical building with tons of charm and beauty but is dated. We had no A/C but a ceiling fan which did the trick. Great hard wood floors and arch ways. It us a shame it is in the location where it is...

You may feel like you're knocking on the wrong door when you get there, but you're at the right place. You have to ring a bell in order for someone to come and unlock the door and let you in. The rooms are pretty decent, but it may take you a while to figure out how to turn on the...

Our first stay we had a room with a ceiling fan, the second, we had a room with AC. Cute, basic hotel. The staff were very friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Can't say much for the neighborhood but the hotel itself was secure, and quiet. Free WiFi available in the lobby only which is a nice place to gather.

The hotel is colonial style, with beautiful parquetry floors and quiet little courtyards. The room we has was quiet and spacious, with ceiling a ceiling fan, wi fi and safe. The hotels very secure and quiet, despite being on a busy road. On the negative side, the toilet in the room did not really work, and they charged us premium...

Background: This was to be the jumping-off point for a 3-week group tour of Central America. I managed to arrive very early on a red-eye flight before the roosters even started crowing, so to speak. This remodeled hotel used to be the home of the Montealegre’s family, one of the main coffee exporters to Europe in the early 1900's, when...

We loved this beautiful hotel. Each room is furnished with antiques from the Plantation days when Costa Rica was the Coffee Capital of the world. The hotel represents a wonderful past yet is well appointed with modern amenities. The hotel Manager Fernando provided us with its history and made a great evening restaurant recommendation. Would definately recommend staying there again.
