This hotel is a hidden gem it is family owned and operated and the staff there are awesome. The hotel itself is very unique. There’s a comfortable porch, and then small bar when you enter. Apparently it was a home that has been expanded overtime and not only are the rooms but there’s also pads with the kitchen and living room, in the middle and bedrooms surrounding. The artwork was everywhere and fascinating to look at and the music played was 1960s Miles Davis an old record player. We sat with the owner for a while and also met his son. We would return any time and also want to visit his other properties in Costa Rica. He has two others.

I have already stayed a couple of times in this conveniently located unique hotel in San Jose. I found it by luck when we arrived last July and couldn't get in to my Airbnb at 1 am. We started driving around and Casa Ronald was the only place available. To our surprise, the hotel is like staying in an art museum and it is very reasonably price, including breakfast. I liked it so much that I stayed there again this year and I'm planning to stay anytime I'm back in San Jose.

This is a wonderful cozy hotel nestled in SJ. We were greeted with a kind smile and very prompt service. The receptionist spoke great English. We were escorted to our room as well as given a bottle of water each. (Such a nice touch). The room that we stayed in was the Deluxe Queen Room. It was very small, but very comfortable. The bed was nice and the sheets smelled so good. In addition, we had a tiny door that led to a quaint terrace to sit and enjoy some quiet time. (This would be a great place to open a bottle of wine and some tapas to enjoy with your significant other, or to curl up with a good book and relax). Tiny was the theme as the bathroom was very small. Hot water a plenty along with big soft and fluffy towels. Small toiletries were also included which was a great addition to our stay. We were excited to see all the art that this hotel is known for and it did not disappoint. There were pictures of just about everything, including Kim Jong Un and his family, a Confederate flag and soldiers, the previous president of Costa Rica and his wife, several naked women paintings, and many nature scenes. It is not for everyone, and we just looked at it through the lens of an artist expressing themselves. Finally the breakfast. It was so good and really filled you up to take on whatever you have planned for the day. We were given a small plate of fruit, and an orange juice. Then offered coffee and water. We accepted both. Then we got to choose between 6 breakfast options. We chose the Tipico. It has local cheese, plantains, sour cream, eggs, and gallo pinto. The breakfast crew were very friendly and kept our coffee and water filled. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I would recommend it to most of my friends. Depending on some ones personal views, I may not recommend if they are adverse to nudity or politics due to the paintings currently hanging. (I did find out that they change them regularly).

Hotel is very clean and service was good. Only drawback is family with children might not be comfortable due to nude arts in the rooms and hallway. We had a great breakfast and a restful night. I would recommend this hotel highly.

Close to the airport, great value, and a truly unique experience. The staff went above and beyond to help us navigate this town that foreign to us. I also enjoyed the well made beverages they made for us at their full bar.
