We went to Costa Rica Backpackers this week because we saw on Booking.com and lonely planet that it was a nice place NO WAY!! It wasnt ! Dirty swimming pool, bad food at the resto bar, very dirty place with only student smoking cash and drinking too much The price is very attractive but thats all! You have for what...

Hi Maxene, we have cleaning staff 24 hours a day, doing their best to keep the place clean, also, we clean the swiming pool everyday, is true we have had more work with our active volcano, which make everything look dirty because of the ashes, but still we work really hard to fight this situation. And for sure is a...

Ive just spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica and about 2 of those weeks in San Jose staying at this hostel. Costa rica backpackers has been nothing but a home from home for me in this time! The staff are so incredibly friendly.. Christopher, Mary, Alfredo, Natalie, Brenda, Israel.. all the cleaners work so so hard, day and night and...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for New Years Eve. There isn't a lot to do in San Jose but this place is perfect to stay if you're passing through. It has a cafe, cheap bar (with happy hour) and a great seating area and pool for socialising. We had a great night and met loads of people from all...

CRBP is large, has good internet in the common areas, and the staff is friendly. They have a bar with reasonably priced drinks and an order-at-the-window restaurant with good food, even at night around 10pm or later. I met many cool travelers there that I hope to connect with in other places in CR. It is a party hostel and...

I stayed in a 4 woman dorm, the hostel was clean, decent food and really great staff! They were very helpful and 24 hour beer available :) Diena and Vic especially! Thanks guys! The pool was great to have in the city and described by many as a little oasis in San Jose. Google maps will tell you the hostel...

Really nice setting with pool and well equipped kitchen. Rooms are a bit tired. The staff here really let the place down. It felt like we were interrupting the receptionist's movie when we checked in one evening. Later that night at 3am I was woken by the night security guard and his mates talking loudly at reception. Had to go...

Generally San José is not the nicest town in the world. At least for me nothing special. We stood in San José just for transfer. Location from the hostel: Can't say much, just not too far from the main shopping street. Nearby are a lot of (dubios) bars. Heaps of young backpackers here. Easy too reach from the airport: Tuasa...

The public area is really great, nice pool and bar, friendly staff. The dorms downstairs were a little shabby but the beds were comfortable. The location is just around the corner of a bar street, so going out seems to be safe, since the hostel is that close :)

First time in a hostel and first Time in San José. The hostel staff is perfect. They were very Nice and helpful for directions. Perhaps, the hostel is not that perfect. Our window wasn't closing so we heard all the outside Sound. And there was only one bathroom... Which is not much for a hostel big like this.

Costa Rica backpackers hostel was the first hostel in Costa Rica that I stayed in. I must say that I didn't have any expectations to standards of the place and or its facilities at that time. It only took me one day to fully fall in love with the place and it's visitors. This hostel is located in the perfect...
