We stayed in a private room at Gaudy's for one night. The Balcon room faces the street and has a private balcony. It is really nice, except when you have to sleep, the traffic light right outside beeps ALL. NIGHT. That was the downside to this room but not Gaudy's fault. The staff are super helpful. However, they gave me...

Gaudy's is a decent option if you are staying in San Jose, but not much more than a place to stay the night. We stayed in a dorm with five beds and the cleanliness was fine for a hostel. The bathroom was another story; It was dirty and wet and we had very little hot water. The location was fine...

After spending a night at Costa Rica Backpackers, this was an absolute breath of fresh air! We stayed for 5 nights and felt comfortable and at home immediately. Everyone is so nice and helpful, breakfast really personal and delicious, it really does feel like you're being looked after in someone's home. Perfect for those who are looking for a chilled...

Gaudy's was one of the highlights of my trip! The staff were unbelievably helpful for us first-time expeditioners, giving us useful contacts, advice on transport etc. and were always pleasant and kind. The hostel and the rooms were clean and this includes the cooking facilities - which we used on multiple occasions! Very nice and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious...

Me and two friends rode in on motorcycles and they were very accommodating. The only issue was the road noise early in the morning, so if you like to sleep in try to get a room in the back. We did have good wifi in the room and throughout the property. I will be staying again!

We were booked in to stay for two nights but found that the hostel is so clean and well organised with very friendly staff that rather than change location we booked in for the whole week. The breakfasts are wonderful! We took advantage of the airport taxi service which took away the worry of arriving late in the evening. Also...

I can't say enough good things about Gaudy's. Even before I arrived, the staff and service was great. They were very responsive with helping book my accommodations and even booking tours to different excursions outside of San Jose. I was so grateful they also offer the option of booking a ride to/from the airport, especially from the airport as it...

I stayed at Gaudy's in July 2016 with a team of World Challenge students. We were made to feel very welcome, despite our late arrival time, and were able to make use of both the wifi and the proprietor's extensive knowledge of the city to plan our activities and transport for our first few days in Costa Rica. The hostel...

Our stay at the hostel was fine and the lady there was really helpful. What was most touching though was when we went back a week later, to rendez vous with person collecting car hire- we asked if we could come in to use their wifi and they very kindly agreed and helped us arrange some logistics for our onwards...

I stayed at Gaudy's twice during July/August 2016 as part of a group of 15. The hostel is based is a quiet area of the city, about 20 minutes walk from the centre, although there are a number supermarkets, bakeries, banks, etc located within a few minutes stroll. Luckily I had a room to myself, with bathroom... other shared in...
