Casa Laurin was listed on Nova Dental's list of nearby places to stay. I chose it and could NOT have made a better choice. The two Ginette's were phenomenal hosts and I wanted for nothing under their roof. During the first leg of my trip I stayed in room 1 which was awesome! The most comfy bed and the biggest bathroom. The rooms had character, they were tastefully decorated and serene. The patio/terrace overlooked to street, but that wasn't what you saw when seated out there....there was a beautiful mountain view. On my return stay, I had room 4...it was tough figuring out which was my favorite. Breakfast was whatever you wanted. While you waited, there was coffee, juice, fruit, bread and good conversation. You left each day, feeling ready to go, filled with info, suggestions and/or umbrella, if needed. On two occasions, I was able to dine out with Ginette, once for lunch and once for dinner...that was soooooo nice since I was traveling solo. It was really nice. On another occasion, the other Ginette took me to a bank where she changed some of my dollars to Costa Rican money, then we traveled together into town where I spent the day sightseeing. While she ran some errands. Casa Laurin is also in a great location. There are stores and restaurants in walking distance as well as a larger variety as close as a short cab ride away. My stay was amazing because of the rooms, but the hospitality of the hostesses, really went above and beyond my expectations. Beautiful home, beautiful hosts. I will return.

Room Tip: Room 1 or room 4 will not disappoint....but then again, every space in the house was gorgeous.

We arrived late on a Friday night, about 10 PM, dead tired, we'd been up since 3 AM! Ginette, who owns Casa Laurin, was so warm with her welcome we felt almost rude telling her we just wanted to go to bed. Her B&B is an amazing place; it's in Escuza, the up scale part of SAn Jose's residential area. I jogged it in the morning and there are some gorgeous homes there. Yet, 2 blocks away there on a main thoroughfare there are large retailers, shops, eateries, everything. The location is peaceful, quiet, and you don't notice until you go outside you are in a large city. We will look forward to our next trip to San Jose and staying with Ginette at Casa Laurin again, it was too short!

It's great to see Ginette is still providing the excellent kind of service you could only dream of. She is a translator, advocate, hostess, expeditor, with a safe clean and convenientlylocated property. Ginette's warm personality has left such a strong impression that I write this review five years after my stay. Good luck and God bless.

Traveled with my son to have dental work in San Jose. I knew nothing about Costa Rica and Casa Laurin was recommended as a cheaper option bye the dental coordinator. The proprietor Ginette who is from Canada is fluent in English, French, and Spanish. We stayed for 12 days, she made us breakfast every morning, was very helpful when we were looking for things to do, we only had time to do a zip line Excursion which was well worth it. She has a list of all types of excursions. We walked to Walmart many times, four blocks away. We walked to local restaurants every day, never once feeling unsafe. This was during the wet season so it was not very warm and we only got in the pool twice Because it is not heated. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable there.Yes, I would stay there again.BTW, If you go take her some maple syrup from the states, it is very expensive in Costa Rica!

Clean, pretty and comfortable. While there my hostess Ginette was the difference between a good trip and an excellent one. I went for both a vacation and dental treatment. She assisted me in a quick beach weekend getaway designed for my needs and wants. Also she was very helpful after my dental procedure. Excellent location as well.Highly recommended
