This was a combination wedding/honeymoon and birthday trip. This was the best trip we’ve been on together. The staff made us feel extremely welcome and they were all kind and courteous to a fault. The place is beautiful and beautifully maintained. The lagoon is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. We stayed in the over water bungalows and the water was warm, clear and inviting. The food at the resort was quite good. The staff were very helpful in securing dinner reservations outside of the resort and arranged for transfers (taxi’s). Other than the “kissed by God” location, The staff is really what makes this place. Wi-Fi is available at a cost but you’ll burn though it fast unless you pace yourself. You can get a SIM card from town but you’ll burn through that as well until you realize you should limit your internet usage and enjoy paradise.

We had massages on site and our masseuse was excellent.

Roneel, Sarah, Jennifer and all the other staff were amazing.

You have to ignore all the reviews prior to the new renovations! I have read them and yes, I would not have gone last year but since June this year (2023) the resort has had a complete face lift in the reception/restuarant and pool area. The staff are amazing and welcome you by your first name. The grounds also improved with new planting especially around the reception/pool area. Okay some of the villas need a little attention on the outside but inside they are large traditional rooms with outside showers and generous deck with loungers. I admit the plastic loungers on the front lawn of the villas might have to be replaced but the dedicated bikes, paddle boards, kayaks and snorkelling equipment that come with each villa are a great touch! We staying in the cheaper standard beachfront units on the Northern side of the island which although only looked out to the mainland, were on the sheltered side of the island compared to the other more upmarket villas which faced the lagoon and reef but had more wind. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean with nice linen and towels. My only complaint would be that the TV's had limited boring channels. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety and the cocktails and entertainment was fantastic. Lunch was also good but dinner options could be improved. Special mention to Wise serving us cocktails and Mere at the Spa! We will be back.

I recently stayed in a Premium Beachfront villa and it was amazing. Personally I think the premium villas are in the best location and it’s great to be right front and centre of the beautiful lagoon. There are lounge chairs on the porch and also directly in front of the villas along with hammocks on the palm trees. The resort recently upgraded their lobby, restaurant and pool areas and it looks great. The beachfront restaurant/bar was still under construction, but the construction didn’t hinder my stay.
The island only takes about 20 mins to walk right around and there are signs with where to see sunrise, snorkelling and sunset. Each villa also has 2 bikes that you can use to ride around or take onto the main island.
The grounds are beautifully well kept.
All the staff were wonderful and friendly, special mention to Mere and Rena! Cocktails and food were great too, along with being reasonably priced for a resort. I enjoyed a facial at the spa and the therapist was excellent and very friendly too. Each day there are different activities arranged if you wish to participate and the lunch/dinner menu changed slightly each day.
You need to purchase Wifi, was $50 for 13 gig and doesn’t seem to last long, so be mindful with usage.
I would also highly recommend a lagoon cruise tour which pick up from the resort too.
The resort provided reef shoes and snorkels in the rooms but I would also suggest to bring your own.
Can’t wait to come back and stay again.

Kia Orana, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your recent experience at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort. We are delighted to hear that your stay in the Premium Beachfront Bungalow left you with such a positive impression. We greatly appreciate your detailed feedback regarding the stunning location of our resort, especially emphasizing the captivating views of the lagoon from the Premium Beachfront Bungalows. Your description of the lounge chairs, hammocks, and porch amenities paints a vivid picture of the serene atmosphere that our guests can enjoy. We are pleased to note that you found our recent upgrades to the lobby, restaurant, and pool areas to be visually appealing and that the refurbishment of the beachfront restaurant/bar did not impact your overall experience. It warms our hearts to read your kind words about our dedicated staff, particularly the exceptional service provided by Mere and Rena. We will make sure to convey your appreciation to them. Your positive remarks about the quality and pricing of our cocktails and food, as well as the spa services, are truly valued. We are pleased to hear that you took advantage of the daily activities offered during your stay and enjoyed the changing lunch/dinner menu. Your recommendation of the lagoon cruise tour and your insights on the provision of reef shoes and snorkels in the rooms are valuable recommendations for future travellers. We appreciate your observation regarding the Wi-Fi service, Aitutaki is a small tropical island in the middle of the vast South Pacific Ocean with a small population and only one telecommunications company, Wi-Fi is considerably more expensive than in a large metropolitan country with a competitive telecommunications market. However, we do price match the local monopoly telecommunications company and have the best Wi-Fi service that is currently available in the Cook Islands. Wi-fi rates are: $10 – 2.5MB, $30 – 7.5MB, $50 – 13GB. Thank you for choosing Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort for your recent getaway. We are thrilled to learn that you are already looking forward to returning. Our team is eagerly awaiting your next visit, and we will ensure that your future stay is just as exceptional as this one. Beautiful, peaceful and quiet. There was a fairly full house but it is such a good layout you feel like there is hardly anyone there. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the views from all the rooms is great, that is if you like palm trees and beautiful turquoise water and white sand. Kayaks, standup paddle boards and snorkeling are complimentary and they even have reef shoes in the room for you to use.
The staff are so lovely and welcoming. Mere, Weis, Luke and Sarah were a stand out for us. The meals are great and continental breakfast is complimentary. There are several other cafes/restaurants in easy walking distance for variety and each room has a bike for you to use if you want. Or just have room service.
Would highly recommend it as a choice of places to stay.

Service was second to none! From when I stepped off the plane to the time I left. Seamless airport pick up, coconut drinks on arrival with a wonderful introduction to the resort before getting zoomed away on the golf cart to my room where my bags where waiting, along with chilled sparkling wine, a fruit platter and air conditioning.

The staff where so friendly, caring and genuinely interested in your trip and how you are, making sure they know everyoneby name - Jerry and Violeta thank you so much!

Food was simply delicious with an island twist. Cocktails were probably too good! And the dinner entertainment was fantastic.

Stayed in an delux beach room. Fantastic! The room was huge, to the point it felt like it was a trip to go to the bathroom! The outdoor shower was so refreshing. The view from the room was unbelievably beautiful.

Overall, an amazing and unforgettable stay.

The Island of Aitutaki is small, quiet and amazing. This resort has by far the best location and undoubtedly the best view of Aitutaki's world famous lagoon. With no children under 16 and the relaxed easy manner of the Cook Island locals, this resort was so tranquil and relaxing - it was amazing! We were in cabin 17, with a spectacular view of the lagoon. Each cabin came with bikes, snorkel gear, a hammock, a kayak and a paddle board, so there was lots to do when you weren't relaxing. The staff also offered Cook Island inspired activities each day (including drumming, crab racing, fish feeding, basket weaving etc), dance shows twice a week and musical entertainment every night during dinner, so there was plenty to do, but if you need late night dancing, discos and partying, this is not the resort for you. The resort felt grown up, quiet and calming and we left feeling fully recharged and relaxed. The staff were also amazing ... Rena and Emily on the desk, Mere, Wise, Luc and Vie in the bar/restaurant service and Tai and Martin in activities all went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and the best time. The chefs also deserve kudos because although the menu was small, every meal I had here was delicious and perfectly prepared - even the buffet breakfast was more than you could hope for! If you want to get away from the stresses of the world, the Cook Islands is the place to go and if you go to Aitutaki, there is no better resort on the island than this one - you will not regret it.

We visited this resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was absolute heaven!! It is definitely the most beautiful lagoon, and the Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort is in the best location to see it all! The resort is stunning, and so relaxed. Our bungalow was overwater, and the view was breathtaking! Everything we needed was privided, from fresh towels and linens daily, to the refrigerator and coffee maker, an ironing board and hair dryer. Our housekeeper put fresh flowers all around the room daily! It was magical! And the food is outstanding! They even have room service, which we used several times. The staff are all so friendly, and definitely have hearts for service. They made our stay so enjoyable, and are now considered friends! We saw turtles swimming past our bungalow, and many varieties of tropical fish just steps out our door. Each bungalow is equipped with bicycles, a kayak, paddle board, and snorkel gear, along with water hammocks, and we used all of it! We saw the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We absolutely fell in love with Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort, and are already planning our return trip! We've definitely found the one place we want to come back to, again and again!!

Had a fantastic time staying here. The bungalows were all roomy and well equipped. Kayaks, paddle boards and bikes all provided with the room. The resort is within kayaking distance of 3 other islands just across the lagoon—Angarei, Ee and Mangere. We aren’t experienced kayakers but we made it to them just fine. The lagoon is shallow enough to walk across in all honesty. There are also some decent spots for snorkeling just around the resort which is nice. The free breakfast exceeded all expectations we had. It includes pancakes, danishes, fruits, yogurt, muesli and cereal. Food at the restaurant was reasonable quality but a bit expensive. Staff were very helpful and accomodating. They helped us book a lot of tours and looked after us on our last day when we had a late flight. They stored our bags and made sure we could shower after a lagoon cruise which picked us up direct from the resort. Yes there are bits still under construction but not in any way that’s particularly disruptive to your stay. We’d definitely stay at the same resort again in the future!

Tough to assess fairly when you consider the cost not just to stay here but also to get there. The location is simply stunning however there is a bit of work going on and the entire experience misses that 5 star experience. The breakfast for example will never reflect paying close to a $1,000 per day for the accomodation. The staff were generally a mixed bag - some really keen and interested to engage with you, others just going through the motions. The location softens any down side but the world is full of much better for a similar price but we learn as we travel. Enjoy……

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in a Deluxe Beachfront bungalow. This is our 6th visit to this resort. Our first was in 2004. And our last was in 2018.
We were pleasantly surprised by the resorts fairly recent renovations. They have surely raised its level of excellence in our eyes. All of the staff were attentive, professional and very friendly. The foyer is also expansive and very welcoming. The gardens ,pools, cabanas and restaurant areas were all lovely and the performance space was much improved. It’s also good that each bungalow has its own kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles. The outdoor showers are super to use and very spacious in our particular bungalow. The breakfast has a wonderful selection of foods ranging from cereals and fruits to hot cooked options as well. I loved the different flavoured pancakes each day and French toast options!
We saw that improvements are still being undertaken but did not detract from our experience. The views are unsurpassed from the Overwater, Deluxe Beachfront and Premium bungalows. The water is delightful to swim in and coral shoes are provided if you don’t wish to bring your own. We enjoyed dining at the resort but there are other options on the main island if you wish. The decor in the bungalows is traditional island style ..rustic but appropriate for the experience. If you are after an authentic island experience with the most amazing views this resort is surely for you! If we were comparing to Bora Bora …Aitutaki would get our vote every time. We hope to make it back for a 7th visit sometime in the future. Until then keep up with the improvements! The standard continues to rise!
Thank you for such an incredible experience!
