Hotel's Favourite
We were greeted with a fresh coconut and easy check in. It is a boutique resort with great service and friendly staff. There is no onsite restaurant service apart from breakfast but it is easy to walk along the beach to two other resorts or a lower cost takeaway/eat-in called Aunty Odeez. Restaurant bookings and shows can be organised by reception. Stunning views of the reef. There is even a golf cart for hire if you wish to drive around the island.

We stayed at Etu Moana for 6 nights and there were so many little details that were so appreciated.
Starting with the lei and airport pickup, the chilled facecloth for the sweaty traveller, the chilled nu and tour of the property. Snorkelling gear located in your villa so you can walk straight into the lagoon, and all of the other little extras with ecological sustainability in mind (complimentary water bottles that weren't plastic and reusable bags).
And the view from the villa to the lagoon was spectacular.
All of these things, plus the all the helpful ground, housekeeping and reception staff, plus managers Pip & Nick really capped off a great last few days of our trip.

This small upmarket, adults-only resort is ideal for those seeking a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle and want to enjoy a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere in style. We spent a week on the island and rented two beach front bungalows that had uninterrupted views of the beautiful lagoon. The water temperature was relatively warm due to the shallow depths and we were rewarded with the company of a wide variety of small reef fish, beautiful clams and colourful patches of recovering coral. The ultimate snorkeling experience was Honeymoon Island in the southern part of the lagoon. There are a number of tour operators. We chose T(h)e King and had a fantastic time.
Friendly staff and beautiful smiles are the norm for the Cook Islands and this was even more so at Etu Moana. Jane, the manager, was highly attentive to all guests' needs and we couldn't have asked for anything more.
A relatively simple breakfast is served in a beautiful garden and pool setting. Food supplies and restaurant options on the island are limited but we think this is a small price to pay for being on this idylic and stunningly beautiful tropical island and staying in luxury at the Etu Moana. Meitaki.

Kia Orana, Thank you for writing this informative review, I trust it adds a small insight on how beautiful Aitutaki is and very much worth that 'Hop-over' flight from Rarotonga. Our aim @etumoana is to delight all the senses, what better place to achieve this? Celebrating with friends beside one of the worlds most stunning lagoons whilst enjoying all natures pleasures from your deck! I would just like to add, thank you for the laughs we got to share, I did look forward to my afternoon visit, if only to vicariously partake in your daily adventures. Enjoy Europe, it would be wonderful to connect with you all again, on your next trip to our little paradise, Stay happy, meitaki, Jane

We landed on a raining day and was met by the lovely Bella who presented us with beautiful flowers. We arrived at the resort and we were met by Pip and Nick and Bella showed us to our Villa No 2. Wow what a view even in a rain. Nick and Pip are an assets to Etu Moana. Their attention to detail is a credit to them. I was even baked gluten free treats each day. The rooms are large and the resort is quiet. There is no onsite restaurant but this is 5 star Villa not a resort. Having said that the breakfast they provide is lovely and you can walk or ride to local restaurants or pick up the phone and order a take away to eat on your beautiful Villa. The first day we grabbed a couples of the free mountain bikes and had a ride around the island is beautiful like its people. Would recommend this place to stay at even more the near by hotels as the accomodation is far larger and fully equiped, private and the hosts care about the place and it’s guests.

Kia Orana Ade6411, Thank you for sharing this feedback regarding your recent stay at Etu Moana Villas. We are humbled by the kind words, but mostly we are very grateful and so thrilled for yourselves that the 5 nights on Aitutaki celebrating a special 'zero' birthday were well enjoyed staying with us. Yes the bikes are a great way to get around and walking along the beach to dining options also get you out and about enjoying all the island has to offer. We are blessed to have a beautiful little adults only property with spacious villas for the comfort of guests and small enough to be able to provide the details as you refer to - it was our pleasure and we hope to welcome you again.

We stayed 5 nights at Etu Moana. The rooms are lovely- spacious, sparkling clean and supplied with everything we needed. We were in bungalow 3, and could hear fish jumping in the lagoon at night. Sitting on the spacious balcony looking out over the lagoon was a ‘pinch me is this real’ experience.
Jane, Bella and every member of the team were warm, friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome and everything we needed was taken care of - from breakfast and a cheery Kia Orana from Terangi in the morning, to beautiful locally made truffles and local myths delivered to the room at the end of each day.
Bella was very helpful before and during our visit with Lagoon tour and restaurant bookings and local advice. Managers Jane and Steve were proactive in making sure everything was perfect and sorting out anything that wasn’t.
The bicycles supplied are past their best, but are fine to get around the island and Jane is getting quotes to replace them. Paddle boards and kayaks were good, there’s plenty to see paddling or snorkeling in the lagoon.
Meitaki ma’ata, Etu Moana team- we will be back.

Kia Orana Toni, What a well thought out and written review, it was so good to meet up with a couple of 'Real Travelers' I was a little envious of some of your bike excursions. Thank you for the advise on Etu Moana Bikes, for sure we will be improving on them, in the meantime, having the tires pumped up was such a bonus :) I trust your friends can make it over to Aitutaki soon, right now does feel like an ideal time to make the trip a 'home from home' awaits our travel bubble kiwi's. Thank you for mentioning the team, I'm organizing a party for them, in honour of getting through their first 6 weeks with Steve and I, leading them, they will really enjoy the mention from all our Guests. Here's to a great rest of 2021! Jane

Welcomed at the airport by Jane in a very cool golf cart. Taken to Etu Moana & the dream started. We only stayed 2 nights & in hindsight it was about 30 days short. Jane & Steve are wonderful hosts & nothing is a problem from booking a restaurant or trip to their great local knowledge. TIP: BOOK AHEAD- with Travel back on & the Cook Islands ramping back up get in early or you might miss out. The honesty bar by the pool restores some faith in human kind. They have electric scooters, Petrol Scooters & they'll even let you use the golf cart. Jane organized a private tour with Matriki Tours & Matthias was fantastic. His knowledge of the island after 22yrs there is outstanding & his seamanship in the waters made my nervous water wife feel safe as. Can't say enough great stuff & to the German Owners- Etu Moana is in fantastic hands & the other Excellent reviews are spot on. We will definately see you again. Thanks for looking after us. Meitaki Maata, Geoff & Heather.
Oh the 1 rule- Have a shower in the pool side shower to wash off sand & sunblock to keep pool chrysal clear. Hardly a rule aye :) Enjoy

Kia Orana Geoff & Heather, What a pleasure it was to spend 2 days in your company, you really do know how to 'Holiday' As you have pointed out, 2 days just isn't enough, you made the most of your time, even too a walk to our look out to see the sunrise! Thank you for being so detailed, this really is beneficial for our new guests deciding to visit Aitutaki. Hope to see you again, Meitaki Jane

The Villas are very nice, well appointed, maintained, and clean. The bed is comfortable and the large porch in front of your room gives you needed shade from the hot sun or a great view of the sea. Since the resort is small you really feel like you are alone. There is no restaurant on property, but many local restaurants to choose from which are just a walk on the beach away or short taxi ride, which can be arranged for you. Breakfast was good, fresh fruit, breads, waffles, but no meat. For me it lacked variety, but my wife very much enjoyed the fresh fruit offerings and special homemade breads.

Kia Orana jam1015, Thank you for spending time reviewing your recent stay at Etu Moana Beach Villas, Aitutaki. We are very glad that you enjoyed the villa, the property and the island in general by the sound of it. Yes we are spoilt with only 10 villas and no one under the age of 16 years, how peaceful the place is, often you feel like the only ones around! We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in the future and we appreciate your kind words.

From the moment you arrive Jane and Steve make you feel so welcome, nothing is too much trouble for them. Jane is so helpful arranging tours, dinners, massages and will even cook you dinner on the nights you don't want to go out. The fish and chip night and bbq night are good value. We had a great pizza and salad delivered to our deck one night, totally amazing!
The electric scooters are so much fun and the best way to see the island not to mention great value at $10 a day.
We just loved sitting on the deck looking at the view, surrounded by the lovely gardens. If it is peace and quiet you are after this is the place!

Kia Orana, Thank you for your 'Lovely' review, at last you both made it to Aitutaki, I'm so happy that the trip was a memorable experience for all the right reasons. The new E-Scooters simply add fun to our guests stay, you both made it all look so natural. I'm imagining you both back home gardening, enjoy your time, until your next trip. I do hope we get an opportunity to meet again Meitaki Jane

This small resort has well appointed villas with recently renovated bathrooms and fully appointed kitchenettes. The managers Jane and Steve are hugely experienced and it shows. They and the staff work all day and into the evenings to ensure everything is ‘just so’ and all their guests have everything they need. Nothing is too much .The villas are well priced as are the ‘add ons’. It is designed for couples, with a lower age limit of 18.
Aitutaki is of course wonderful! Etu Moana is the first place we have stayed at where we started planning our next visit before we left. Outstanding.

Kia Orana PHEW! Steve and I must have put on a good show whilst you were visiting... I have a feeling we simply 'Wing-it' whilst loving every moment at Etu Moana. Thank you for already planning your return, Aitutaki does have a certain 'magnetical' affect on our guests, as the saying goes 'Skip Raro' and head straight to Aitutaki. It was an real pleasure to meet you, we'll be waiting to welcome you home. Meitaki Jane

I fully reccomend Etu Moana for a wonderful pacific island escape from the tedium of a rainy NZ winter. The bright blue ocean and white sand look just like the postcards The location is stunning, the resort well maintained and Jane and Stephen are wonderful hosts. Special thanks to Jane for organising tours, booking meals and making great suggestions for exploring the island. Nothing is too much trouble. She also makes a mean aperol spritz and is a good cook if you feel like eating in to watch the sun stting over the lagoon. The staff are all very friendly and do a great job of looking after the guests, and keeping the villas and gardens spotless. We loved the friendly cats, but the roosters crowing early in the morning took a bit of getting used to. but hey, they are all over the island. We will certainly be back.

Kia Orana BazAlk
thank you for your enquiry, swimming directly off the villas is best at higher tide. A few meters down the beach is a deep swimming hole plus at Ootu beach is good / deeper swimming. also out in the main lagoon. One can always swim out or kayak/paddle board to deeper water from the villas.
Hello, sorry for the late reply
Most chalets that we saw were 6-7 steps to balcony. Steps up at back door too.
Hi, yes we do have wifi and we give you 500MB on arrival FOC per stay. If you need more than that then we sell vouchers at the office or you can put your credit card online. The signal covers the whole resort (recently upgraded) and although the internet in the Cook Islands is generally a bit slower than what you are used to it is actually pretty reliable.
I hope this helps - we look forward to hosting you here :)
Koru Cafe is good as they will also deliver pre-cooked meals to your villa or uncooked BBQ packs. We also ate there as well.
Their coffee is excellent. Real espresso for a coffee snob like me. I was so impressed I bought their souvenir cap!
Not really suitable for kids. there are more appropriate places on Aitukaki for families.
