Beautifully appointed beachfront bungalows. Each Bungalow is well equipped with an open plan kitchenette, lounge and dining area; a seperate bedroom with ensuite and a great deck facing out to the lagoon. Watch whales play on the outskirts of our reef, see the cheeky trevally's chase the smaller fish onshore and marvel at the stunning beauty of our Aitutaki Lagoon. Lay in your hammock with a good book, or simply look up and get lost in the gentle sway of the coconut palms overhead. Come and enjoy the smiles, drumbeats and gentle culture of Aitutaki. What an absolute treat. Nothing to fault here, Vicki was there to greet us, absolutely lovely lady. The bungalows are proudly located right on the beach and it was so peaceful and tranquil. Spotless and every thing that was needed was there and more. Absolutely loved it

It was very clean, comfy and had absolutely everything we needed for our family of four. The kids loved the sofa bed. Vicki was a kind and sincere host and was always happy to help if we wanted to book a tour etc. Thank you Vicki! We loved our stay and hope to come back one day.

We were met at the airport by our hosts and transported to the bungalows for free. Our charming hosts settled us into one of the two bungalows situated on the beadh (literally) and welcomed us with home-made scones. The bungalow was near new with one large bedroom and ensuite, a lounge/kitchen. All was in immaculate condition, clean and beautifully presented. Left to our own devices, we found adequate shops nearby for breakfast and lunch foods, while there were ample cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes for evening dining.

A beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful with access to a wonderful beach with white sand. Swimming in the lagoon and moving out for other activities was easy, well supported by the hosts.

In summary, a most reasonably priced private bungalow postioned in a delightful part of the world. Recommended for those who like privacy and a quiet holiday. Hosts first class, friendly and anxious to ensure a great visit.

We hit the jackpot with this place. It was every bit like the website described and more.
It was like staying with family but having your own apartment on the lagoon shore. From the moment we arrived we were spoilt and made to feel like we lived there all the time. The standard of accommodation combined with the lifestyle on this island was a great way to unwind.

The bungalows are as per the website, very clean with a stereo and a nice deck but you can not really cook as there is only an electric pan.

The bungalows are located at the end of the lagoon , very close to the "city" . So it is convenient to get food, go to restaurants but it is a little bit noisy as not far from road.
The beach in front of the bungalows is not really swimmable as the water is not clear and very shadow. We always took the scooter to go swimming somewhere else (it starts to be nice going north after the pacific resort).

The big plus of the paparei is really the owner who is very helpful and nice. She will be able to recommend lots of activities and will make all the booking for you which we really appreciated.

My mother and myself stayed here for 2 nights after a week in Phuket. The hotel was very nice and the facilities were great.

The buffet at the restaurant was very good value for money with a large selection of dishes.

The rooms were pleasant with a large bathroom. The bed head however was rather grubby (stained).

The only criticism I have is when we went for dinner in the restaurant we were told because we didn't order the buffet that table water would not be provided and we had to buy bottled water with our meal. This was not the case in Phuket or anywhere else in the world I've travelled so I found it a bit strange if not rude you would offer table water to some dinner guests but not all. Everyone is paying either way for their meals!

Overall though an enjoyable stay =)

We had a wonderful stay at Paparei Bungalows. They have everything you need and then some. Fresh fruit, baked goodies, homemade chutney and jam. Good recommendations and even booked our scooter, lagoon cruise and dinner reservation for us. Sadly we did not have the opportunity to meet Vickie and Peter because of a family matter but Mati and Tai took wonderful care of us.

Unfortunately Peter and Vicki were away, but we were greeted by their daughter Trina at the airport. Straight away her friendly laid back welcome made us feel relaxed and at home. Although the beach isnt exactly a great swimming spot, hire a scooter from across the road and explore the island, its a blast! But it is close to everything you need and close to 'town', although dont expect the police to be there much. But Aitutaki is such a beautiful island, get out and explore it (Dont forget to visit Trina at Koru Cafe!) and then come back to the bungalow to relax and watch the sunset.

We were met by one of the owners of the property Vicky, at the airport and was taken to the bungalows.
They were extremly clean and well presented and not only were we given fresh fruit / milk / bread and drinking water on arrival but Vicky had also baked us coconut loaf!
The bungalows are situated on the beach and we had some fantastic sunsets. As with most of Aitutaki the water is very shallow, but you can walk up the beach a little bit and you can swim. We found there were hardly anyone on the beach so it was like having our own private place.
The bungalows are a good size with bedroom, bathroom, living area with small kitchenette. The best part is the decking area where we would sit and have a few beers watching the sunset.
We hired a scooter for the time we were there as it is the best way to get around the island and checkout some of the other beaches. The best is out by the Aitutaki resort and spa for swimming - dont bother paying for a guest pass as you can go on the beaches for free.
Overall a great stay and we would go back again. The welcome and service we recieved was better than anywhere else we have stayed in the world.

We have just returned from a 7-day stay, our second time at Paparei Bungalows, and again, we had a wonderful time here. Paparei offers two lovely little one bedroom units side by side on the very edge of the beach on the sunset side of the lagoon. The units are situated in picturesque gardens and are attractively finished, comfortable, clean and well-appointed, with all the fittings and comfort you would expect of a quality motel. There is air con and all the windows and doors are screened. The beach is very private as there only a few other small private properties nearby, and the view from the units is amazing - just palm trees, white sand and the tranquil lagoon. You are literally on the beach in 10 steps from the deck. The beach here is not great for swimming as it is very shallow, but it is a wonderful place to relax, and good swimming spots are a short scooter ride away. There are loungers, a BBQ hut and picnic table, and a well equipped kitchen inside if you want to self-cater. Paparei is well-located along the main road, but nothing is too far away on Aitutaki and a scooter takes you everywhere you want to go. Nowhere on Aitutaki is crowded or busy. The owners of Paparei live on site in their own beautiful home, they take great care of the whole property and look after their guests very well. This is simply the best place to stay!
