Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 16 nights with 2 friends. We were on a fishing holiday and weren’t looking for anything luxurious, but a basic accommodation with a fridge for the after fishing beers and a porch to hang out.
We were greeted at the airport by Vaa, the manager and host who then offered to show us around and do some shopping before taking us to the bungalow. We refused the sight seeing since we were already familiar with the island from previous visiota. But it was a generous offer and I bet the first time visitors would love to have a local show them around on the day of arrival. Vaa had arranged us scooters to get around and was more than helpful with our requests and problems. Laundry service was brilliant and he even arranged us local SIM cards while we were out fishing during the business hours of the telephone store.
The accommodation was better than anywhwre I had previously stayed on the island. Room was spacious and clean, shower had decent pressure and the most important thing, the bug screens in the windows were intact meaning there were very few mosquitoes that got inside. Fresh sheets and towels were brought in frequently. The beach on the property was clean, there were plenty of Beach chairs and a few kayaks for our use and even a grill on the yard.
The location was more than convenient for us. Close proximity to most of the stores and services and some good restaurants close by too. Especially the newly opened Mouarii Café was a very pleasant surprise.
I will definitely contact Vaa before our next trip for the accommodation and can recommend it to everyone who are not looking the top notch luxury experience. It’s all you really need with excellent service!

We got married here! The beautiful stretch of the beach in front of Aitutaki Beach Villas was an ideal backdrop for exchanging our vows.
Management were absolutely amazing - right from the start of our trip through to the very end. We were welcomed by Mu who picked us up from the airport. He drove us through the area surrounding our villa pointing out supermarkets, eating places etc which helped get our bearings. When he popped by the villas he took a genuine interest to hear our experiences and offered to help book anything we wanted to do. Thank you to friendly Ruth who serviced the villas. We cannot thank Marama enough for making our wedding day so wonderfully special with her creativity, thoughtfulness and attention to detail – we deeply appreciate it. All were so helpful, accommodating and contributed to making our stay a memorable experience.
The villas were comfortable, clean and catered for all of our requirements - a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a good pressured hot shower (and a hairdryer), and a comfy bed. Onsite there is a phone to use for local calls, rental scooters and kayaks. Having an intolerance to fragrances and chemicals (mcs), I had requested for any fragranced products to be removed and found it refreshing that this had been remembered and was grateful for a safe environment to holiday in.
The location was perfect – only 3 other villas on the property, convenience stores, cafes/takeaways/restaurants were handily located. We were just a short distance from the island summit walk which made for panoramic views of the island and lagoon. Having walked a good stretch of the beach, we concluded the best part of the beach was in front of our villas and those sunsets were spectacular!
We definitely will be returning to stay at Aitutaki Beach Villas and would have no hesitations to recommend to others.

Awesome spot, we had one of the two beachfront villas.
It's an extra 20 steps to the beach if you book either of the two other villas, but you don't get that same lagoon front row view from your front door.
Local man Vaa will pick you up from the airport and take you on a quick tour and show you the west side of the island.
This is a self catering place with good fridge / freezer / gas cook top...Large King bed and tidy bathroom.
If you intend to self cater bring as much as you can from Raro, but if you are only staying a few nights, there are two resort restuarants serving breakfast lunch and dinner within walking distance, Tamanu is close 150m walk along the beach.
Pacific resort is a bit further walk or short ride.
Hire a scooter and have a look around the island.
Do a lagoon tour with Teking.
Do a deep sea fishing tour with Black Pearl.
The local contact Vaa is super helpful with any request and local advice regarding shops / tours / scooters.

These villa aren't flash but they are extremely clean and comfortable.
Joe picked us up on time from the airport and settled us in.
There are no aircons here but the fan works fine and the windows can be left open as they have insect screens.
Motor scooters available to hire, well kept and tidy units (only a couple of years old).
The location is excellent with a lovely beach out front. Being on the leeward side the wind isn't uncomfortable.
Roosters and chickens can be noisy but such is island life!
A walk into the 'town' would take 15-20 min.
There are a couple of good restaurants within 10min walk, one is about 3 min really.
Great value and we would stay again if we came back to Aitutaki.

We really enjoyed staying at Aitutaki Beach Villas. From the moment Moo picked us up until he dropped us off was spectacular. Moo gave each of us a beautiful flower lei. He then drove us through the area we were staying and showed us places to eat, stores and places of interest. When we arrived at the villa we had a beautiful fruit platter, more beautiful flowers in our villa and drinking coconuts that Moo opened for us. There was always filtered water for us to refill our glass containers they provide once we ran out.
The villas are like little cabins. There are 4 that all faces the ocean with great views. Each have a nice front deck with a picnic table. The sunsets were amazing.
Kitchen had everything you need. Bathroom had towels and beach towels. Shower was cold the first morning so we asked Moo and he fixed it. Have to run the water a bit but showers were hot. The king size bed was comfortable. The place was extremely clean.
Moo was at the property every day cleaning the grounds and available for questions. I believe it was his wife that cleans the villas between guest and she works very hard. Moo always asked us what we had done and what we thought of our experiences. He offered to help book anything we wanted to do. He booked Tamanu Resort for their Island night and that was fun, food was great and within walking distance.
Onsite there is a phone to use for local calls, nice scooters for rent and free use of kayaks. I would suggest you get a scooter so you can see the whole island. They were $25 NZ a day and worth it.
Also there was an outside shower so you didn’t track all the sand up to your bungalow. To top everything off, snorkeling out front of our places was awesome. We would stay here again as it was extremely clean, everyone was helpful and kind and it was a perfect location.

Situated between two resorts (Pacific Resort and Tamanu) this gives you the best of both worlds, relatively cheap accommodation and access to two restaurants within walking distance. Koro Cafe also provides BBQ packs (with 24 hours notice) and Etu Moana (also within walking distance) offers a set menu two nights a week. The villa provided all we needed for a comfortable stay, plenty of hot water (it did take a while to come through), no air conditioning but the sea breezes keep you cool at night (the windows have mozzy covers!).
The snorkelling out the front is great and being on the sunset side, the evening views are spectacular. Our host Murare was very helpful and always available to answer any questions we had and kept us in fresh fruit with a fruit platter on arrival (plus coconut opening lessons) and a bunch of help yourself banana's at the office.
Make sure you get out on the Lagoon, we'd recommend Teking or Bishops (and charter is a good option if you want to get out on your own - after all, you're saving on accommodation!!).

Nice comfortable beach front villa, waking up looking over the stunning reef of Aitutaki, watching the whales cruise past the outer reef. Aitutaki is the paradise of the Pacific and the hosts at Aitutaki Beach Villas will make sure that you enjoy your stay. They have 4 well serviced beach front Villas all with a comfortable king big, 3 have a mezzanine floor with 2 singles up the top and a single also down stairs. 2 element cook top, microwave, fridge, toaster and jug. All have a deck off the front with table and chairs, also a back door to the shower so you don't get sand all through the villa. The only downside is the hot water is heated by solar but it's normally hot so a cold shower can be very refreshing. And if you are happy to go buy a few sausages from the local supermarket there is a barbecue for guests to use, and kayaks to go explore the lagoon

Spent 7 days here. Fabulous swimming and good snorkelling. We were very well looked after by Joe. Rooms well appointed and cleaned. Really appreciated the fruit. It was fabulous. Would have loved to have gone paddle boarding as the water in front of villas so lovely, but unfortunately no SUP's available. Could be a good idea for the the owners to buy a couple. The wooden loungers probably should be upgraded or have lounger cushions. Definitely a good idea to take your own meat, cheeses etc. Highly recommend booking the Pacific Resort for dinner on a Sunday as nothing much else open on a Sunday. Avatea cafe simply delicious and well worth a visit .

On a scale of 1 to 10, Aitutaki Beach Villas rates a 15!! We just completed our third stay (this time for four weeks over Christmas) and it will not be our last visit. Our travel time requires 1 1/2 days and four different airplanes but it is well worth the effort. Aitutaki is a gorgeous island with a stunning lagoon. Aitutaki Beach Villas are right on the beach and are very clean and comfortable. There are only 4 villas so it is very peaceful and private, with easy access to the grocery store, takeaways and other shops. The people on Aitutaki are friendly and kind. If you are walking, don’t be surprised when someone stops to offer you a ride. The hosts at Aitutaki Beach Villas were amazing, Siu and Marama and also Mu and Ruth. They were so helpful and welcoming. Mu greeted us with flowers at the airport and took us grocery shopping the first day. Our questions were answered and we were able to easily book lagoon cruises and island night buffets. We enjoyed the complimentary kayaks and barbecue and we conveniently rented motor bikes. Aitutaki’s Koni Raoni was an exciting celebration of singing and dancing through the villages on the island. This year they raised over $100,000 in donations to help their respective communities. We loved the energy, the music and dancing, the generosity. Siu and Marama welcomed my grandsons for part of the celebration. If you ever want to be reminded of the goodness in the world, staying at Aitutaki Beach Villas will restore your faith in humankind.

The location, beach and relaxed feeling of Aitutaki Beach Villas made for a great holiday. Marama, Mu and Ruth were warm and welcoming and generous with their local knowledge and supplies of fresh fruit and drinking coconuts. A great base for enjoying all that Aitutaki has to offer. Highly recommend for those wanting to self-cater.

Hi there. The villa is of bungalow open studio type (or "beach batch") that has own kitchen, bathroom, front decking, linen and towels supplied, toiletries supplied (but now tooth brush, shaving blades, or comb) and complementary tea and coffee available. We also have snorkeling gears available. If you're concern about not sharing these please you're most welcome to bring along your own. You can also hire gears on the island but supply is very limited. We also have kayaks available for our guests use.
Motorbikes (or scooters) are the best way of getting around the island. And it takes approximately 40 minutes around the circumference of the island on scooter at easy cruising speed of around 30 km/hr. It is approximately 22 km around the island.
Where we are located it is easy to get around on foot if you wish. Restaurants/eateries and dairy shops are close by or within up to 8 minutes walk. If you need to explore the island, then hiring a scooter is necessary. For day lagoon cruise, fishing charters, scuba diving trips etc, pickups are arranged or inclusive.
Trust this is helpful.

Hi there. Our rooms are not air conditioned. However, we have powerful wall fans that blows quite well for circulation if required. Our guests enjoys the strong-wind blow but other guests prefer the natural breeze flow that vents through the villas freely.
