So I did not see the restaurant and the lodge separately so I am going to review them both here. Something they all had in common: the staff are top notch across the board. They are very friendly and happy to help. 1st up: The Lodge: We stayed in Cabin 9. I'd say that it sleeps four comfortably with a bunk bed and double in one room. There is a pull out sofa in the living room but we did not try it so I can't speak to its comfort level. I find rating hotels and ledges a little difficult because I feel it really comes down to expectations. I would say that the cabin was basic, clean accommodations. I found it comfortable but some might find it a little dated. I would stay here again. 2nd up: Places to eat. So there are a couple of different options for food. In the morning, you can get coffee, breakfast sandwiches and an assortment of items designed to take with you for your day of fishing and adventure. I believe it was called ToGo and is open from 7am to 2pm. They had a breakfast sandwich that I thought was really good. I did not care for the breakfast burrito as much but my wife seemed to really like it. It is pretty big by the way. We also tried some ice cream from here and it was very good. I had the lemon bar ice cream. There is also the roadhouse for dinner and lunch. We had the pulled port tacos, sliders, onions rings and mixed berry/rhubarb pie. Everything was outstanding. Please keep in mind this is an old fashioned greasy spoon kind of place and so darn good. We met a couple of guides here and the hamburgers looked so good. I recommend.…
Awsome, service and friendly staff. Had live music playing that was awsome. Highly recommend. Very Alaskan feel which was awsome since we were visiting from Minnesota. Food was fast and super delicious!!
Gwin's Lodge has lots of outdoor charm. ...Our cabin had wood on the ceiling, wood on the walls, and wood on the floor. The Russian campgrounds are nearby for camping, hiking and fishing. Two brothers roadhouse, a nearby restaurant and bar has excellent barbecue.
The cabin was not clean. Grungy looking carpet, hadn’t been dusted in a very long time; microwave was nasty; my husband was afraid to use shower. On the positive side, the food in the restaurant was very good!
My family and I rented a cabin while we were on guided fishing trips. The cabin itself was fine. What was NOT fine was there was a small cabin attached to ours. The individual living there cleaned the cabins between rentals. There was a door in one of the bedrooms leading into his cabin. He was constantly smoking marijuana and the smell filled our cabin. Another room also shared a wall and you could see light from his room. It was impossible to sleep in the room next to his while his TV was blaring. We will never stay here again!!!!
