Very nice owner/staff. We actually could not stay and offered to pay the penalty for our stay, but the owner refused to accept it despite our acknowledgement that it was our fault. We did have dinner here and it was very good.

Rather sad to see the condition of this once classic hotel. It's fading fast. It seems as if nobody cares about her upkeep. The potential is there but there's a generalized lack of everything necessary to make this a pleasant experience.

We stayed two separate nights in this hotel. Although this is a historic place, there is no reason for not maintaining the buildings. The rooms are not very clean, a lot of dust at several places. Our first room was very noisy, not all windows could be closed, and there was a very strange smell in the room. The second...

Top customer service... From Jeff who took our reservation to John who picked us up from the ferry to Alex who greeted us by name when we entered the hotel.... Super yummy home baked goodies to go with the best coffee every morning. Someone in town said that the restaurant was about to get a top culinary rating... after eating...

This hotel has Victorian-era architecture and the owners are absolutely wonderful people who truly care about making you feel at home. The rooms are clean and they have top-notch linens. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

This hotel was so clean even though it was 110 years old. It had so much character. Felt like I was staying at a grandparents house. Walls are a bit thin but the constant replacement of towels made up for it. The staff was helpful and professional yet down to earth. Thoroughly loved the food at the restaurant located in...

Our corner room was bright and large, and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom lacked ventilation, towel bars, hooks, and a door that would latch closed. The hotel's location in Historic Fort Seward with views of surrounding mountains and within easy walking distance of very good places to eat more than makes up for the general need of repair...

The hotel was clean but quite old because it is a historic building. It was quite basic, for example no hair dryer was available in the room. On the plus side, staff was really nice and helpful, and they also offered coffee and cakes in the morning which was a nice touch. Free wifi available in the lobby only. Location in...

The hotel was once the commander's barracks and was originally built at the turn of the century (19th to 20th). it is located on a hill by a grass 'square' (formerly the parade ground of the army). On the other side of the square are the other wooden houses where the officers were housed. so this is the historic part...

We have stayed in other historical accommodation in Alaska. It is usually quite nice to see these links to the past. In this case, we were rather disappointed. Peeling paint, bad smells, and bad maintenance are really not necessary to suggest age.
