We stayed at the Totem Inn for the second time in a 2 year period. Our room was in the newer section (it was under construction the last time we stayed there) and it was perfect for our needs. We visited Denali N.P. during the day and chased aurora during the night. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast was not as good as we remembered from our first stay. While the quality of the food was good, you'd best show up early as the cook was definitely not proactive about replenishing the food or juice. Since we were up until 2:00 am chasing the lights, we set our alarm for 8:15 to get down to breakfast before it ended at 9:00 (6:00 - 9:00.). By the time we started breakfast there was almost nothing left and the juice was gone. The cook was there, but he was more interested in his phone than keeping up with the food.

Right up front, walking distance to 49th State. Modern and clean rooms with excellent facilities, including an on-site bar that stays open well into the early hours of the morning. Staff were friendly and happy to assist as well as there being ample on site parking.

Only about 11 miles (or 25 minute drive) to Denali National Park and Preserve -- and the drive to the Park is breathtaking. Groceries and gas almost right across the street (so helpful to have!), multiple restaurants close by, a great place to watch the aurora a few miles up the road. The breakfast was the same thing for my 6 day stay and was OK -- occasional pancakes or french toast would have been a nice change; fruit would have been a great addition; bagels, too; otherwise, you should find everything else you need for a complimentary breakfast. My room was in an older building. It has a great mountain view. The room was acceptable; everything that I needed for my stay, including a 'fridge and microwave. It was hard to find someone at the front desk and walkways were not shoveled until later in the morning -- perhaps because I was there in January? Friendly staff.

This hotel is one of the only hotels open in Healy, AK during the off-season, but it is very comfortable, clean, and spacious. Rooms are very warm in the middle of the cold t Alaska climate, and the price is also very affordable. Would definitely stay here again. This hotel is also very close tp Dinali National Park during the high season. Highly recommend this hotel during the tourist season.

We stayed at the Totem Inn for several days early September and I must admit I was worried about going there based on so many bad reviews. Check in was smooth and friendly and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the property was. Our room was clean, our beds comfortable, bathroom clean with plenty of hot water. Hotel was 15 minutes from Denali. Also we thought the breakfast was good. We didn’t eat at hotel restaurant because of so many local choices. But as a surprise we also saw the Aurora borealis from the hotel! We would recommend staying there.
