We came with other families and she would not allow any doors to be propped open to allow our kids to come back without a key. She would walk up and down hallways and literally put her ear to the door to listen inside rooms. She said it’s for safety because people always walk in from the streets. After I mentioned that it’s concerning and why they don’t have someone staffed at the front desk to watch people come in instead of hanging out in back and waiting for someone to ring the service bell? She said that is why she walks the hallways to check sometimes. Definitely don’t stay here if you like good service and don’t want random people in the hotel roaming around.
I was really looking forward to staying here so I reserved it for 2 nights. If I would have had it for a 3rd night I would have cancelled and stayed somewhere else. Upon going in the room for the first time there was a dead bug of some kind in the tub, okay, I just blew it down the drain. Left the room for hours, came back in the evening and saw a tick in the bathroom. Won’t give a step by step but by the time we checked out in the morning we killed 8 ticks, 2 disgusting big spiders and whatever the dead bug was. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Very easy access, great parking, centrally located. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, staff was friendly. 2 washers and dryers, hit tub and indoor pool. Breakfast in the morning was okay. Front desk left unattended and you need to push buzzer. Felt like someone needed to greet guests upon arrival. Kitchen area in rooms had no utensils or dishes. Small refrigerator and microwave. Only 2 towels, wash cloths and hand towels in small bathroom. Wi fi spotty..would stay again for convience and comfort.
This is a very basic somewhat newer hotel. It is clean in every area room, dining area, laundry, pool, grounds The room that we had had a separate room with bunk beds and a tv with a door to close it off. Great for families. Main Room overall was average size. Breakfast was basic, the normal stuff with a waffle maker. No donuts and no fruit but enough variety. Try to get a room facing back of hotel as some of the rooms overlook the kenai river the hotel is the start of a great river boardwalk that is about 1/2 mile long. Several sets of steps going down to the water every 50 yards or so for fishing or sitting. Go all the way to the end for a little inlet where the water is not rushing. The boardwalk ends at a little park with a playground. Awesome added attraction to our stay although we did not catch any fish. …
We stayed at the Aspen Hotel for 3 nights while we were in Soldotna - very disappointing. Poor customer service and difficulty in getting housekeeping service each day.Definitely NOT worth the price. In fact, it was so bad that we left and moved to another hotel in the area that was MUCH better and at a much better price! I would NOT recommend the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna!
