It has everything you could possibly need for a short stay. Lovely porridge in the mornings too. The atmosphere is very relaxed and efforts are made to make you as welcome as possible. Loads of parking space and cable TV with dvd player in living room

I came upon this little gem recently when looking for somewhere for my daughter and I to stay in the Newport Pembs area.
It's a beautiful little cottage set a couple of miles inland from Newport in the middle of the Gwaun countryside.
I don't know where to start - it's a wonderful snug cottage but with all modern amenities (including wi-fi) set in 3 acres of beautiful countryside with a lovely babbling brook running through it.
The owner (Mary) is lovely and friendly and has lived in the cottage since the 1970s she is very helpful and informative. She cooks a tasty breakfast and is flexible if you want something not on the menu!
There's a comfortable lounge with tv etc and three double bedrooms - one downstairs - and a downstairs bathroom.
Dogs are welcome too.
It's only 2 miles down the road to Newport where there are numerous bars and restaurants (Golden Lion is probably the best but gets busy so book up!)
Her rates are very reasonable too.
Enjoy

+1
Just returned from a lovely stay at Pen Y Bont. The room I stayed in downstairs is en suite. Very comfortable, cosy and warm. The views from all sides of the cottage are spectacular. The kitchen sink overlooks Carnigili mountain, the gardens all around are beautifully maintained. There's even a swing in the garden. If your looking for rest and quietness this is the perfect place. It's a 10 min drive to nearby Newport and the beach. There are lovely walks nearby if your looking for a walking holiday. Mary the owner of the B&B is so lovely and very knowledgable about the local area. It really does feel like home away from home. She's sensitive to if you need quiet time and you have access to the lounge with a wood burner stove that adds the extra charm to staying there. There's very good Wifi access and if you want an evening in, just watching the box she has all access to Netflix etc.. (not that you would want to) given the beautiful location. Breakfast is included and Mary is open to whatever you want. I stayed in the evening and cooked my own pizza for an evening meal as didn't fancy eating out. Mary is quite happy to let you use the kitchen facilities as required..I'll definitely be going back and staying as can't believe this Gem of a find..

A beautiful cottage in Cilgwyn, near Newport in Pembrokeshire. On a quiet lane and nestled in a well kept cottage garden with green fields beyond, a superb and quiet setting. Great for local walks, next door to an independent brewery on the adjacent farm which is worth a visit. Mary is a fantastic host and catered for our every need, including a lovely gluten free veggie breakfast for me, and gallons of freshly brewed coffee! Close to Newport yet secluded and peaceful, we had the downstairs double room with en suite bathroom and use of the lounge with log burner, which we didn't need due to fantastic weather! Highly recommended
