The New Otani Hotel in Takaoka was my home for three days. Centrally located Takaoka it was easy to commute with the railway station and the major tourist attractions here. The hotel is easy to find as it’s the only tall building in the proximity. The size of the room - executive single, was very small indeed, and I would not say it was altogether comfortable to work in. Having seen the double rooms on the other side of the corridor I will certainly be reserving this when I return next month. The hotel boasts a great selection of restaurants but they were all closed due to low occupancy caused by the reaction to the Covid 19 virus concerns. Front desk speaks good English. The ground floor coffee shop wouldn’t let me in for breakfast because breakfast wasn’t prepaid - even though I was prepared to pay. Bizarre. I gave this restaurant a wide berth thereafter. There is a supermarket near the back entrance of the hotel and they have a good selection of food and drink you can take back to your room. Hunger no more. A fair hotel at a reasonable price. Careful to book a double room if you want space though.…
Our cycle tour came here from the Noto Peninsula. Room was OK, albeit with a small bathroom. Good location to walk to Great Buddha and Castle Park. Included buffet dinner in adjacent restaurant was poor.
This hotel is not too far from rail station. Place is clean and staff speaks english. The bedroom is ok, simple. A little bit expensive compared to the quality. Bathroom, small, just a cube... Breakfast has a good choice of japanese kitchen. Area around hotel is not really nice in the evening... But seems safe.
The front desk staffs are very polite, helpful and friendly, the breakfast is good, only the cleaning ladies do not understand English very well, so we often had wrong communication, and they only left some toiletries without cleaning our room.
The hotel is just a short walk from the train station. There is not much activity around the hotel though. There are restaurants but we didn't see a lot of people at them. Fortunately, the restaurants on the 14th floor of the hotel are good. The bed was probably the hardest I have ever slept on and not very comfortable. The room was clean but furniture and bathroom are a little dated.
