Professional and superb facilities and service from check in to restaurant staff. The room and bathroom was clean, fresh linen and importantly the inside of the kettle had no residue in it. Staff were smiling and the chef made me a special dessert.
We had preferred to stay closer to the beachfront, but places were fully booked. Hemigways location is ok for a short stay over. For a longer stay, we would prefer another location. Rooms are clean with average equipment. Same applies to service. Generally friendly, but nothing above average.
The Presidential suite was very unimpressive.. meagre amenitites , wen one showers the door doesnt seal so the entire bathroom floor has water running. Really bad room servce - over an hour for the food , dessert was served 15mins BEFORE the main course. Some really courteous staff members in the breakfast room.
We are a group of 8 Government Officials, on business in East London staying at Southern Sun Hemingways Hotel for four nights. Our booking arrangement includes dinner, bed and breakfast. Due to our tight schedule, on the third night we all decided to book room service for dinner whilst rushing back to the hotel. some of our colleagues arrived at 8pm only to be told there is no food. I literally called the hotel on 043-707 8000 and the reception kept on transferring me to the room service department. For 13 minutes I was on hold whilst driving to the hotel until I arrived at the reception. On my arrival I met my other colleagues being attended to by an Indian middle aged man who told them the kitchen is closed and there is no more food. Whilst the call was still active, i showed him the screenshot taken after 12mins of waiting to be transferred. To my surprise, I found a disgusting attitude and response from Clinton who claimed the above number did not belong to him. Explaining to him that the number indeed is not his but the hotel, he kept on refusing until we all decided to go out looking for places to eat. For such a hotel and kind of business we give them, people like Clinton who clearly has no concerns of customer services satisfaction has now ruined the image of this hotel. He left us hanging and called for security claiming that I was threatening him when I told him I will write this review. This is just the beginning, I still have to flood the social media for this attitude that stinks.…
I'm here on a 2 week work trip so 12 nights on total! Not my 1st time in BCM (EL) but my 1st in Southern Sun and what a sad experience!. My room (yes single standard is about 3x3,5m) the shower!!! OMG luckily I'm a small framed person and I can mange to turn in the shower outshout having top open the shower door...my other larger male work colleagues are having a tough time! The we inculcated DBB with the rate- no one informed us that the dining room was not opened yet...so food from cafe felix in the mall! Mostly a fast food joint (my 1st night after check in- raw half chicken arrived as room service) and a simple breakfast takes about 45 minutes to reach your table with about 1- 3 diners in the room. I got charged R180 (to my room ) for a takeaway coffee since I couldn't wait for a breakfast any longer than the 40 minutes I already waited! my 11 night today- linen changed x1 only because I asked last Thursday (day 5) when will my linen be changed. BTW no extra toilet rolls...you are lucky if you actual receive a full roll (no replacement if you finish a roll during the night?…
We returned to the Hotel in March and were truly spoilt by the team at Hemingways. Our suite was amazing . Thank you to management for this incredible upgrade, so very appreciated. We had the most wonderful stay. Thank you to all involved. We hope you are all keeping well and look forward to our return trip/stay.
Kindly remove Carpet , it is not easy to sleep because of stuffiness. The dinning area is too congested . There is no Bar literally. Generally the Hotel is fine and well located next to the mall. Thank you.
The service was very good I received value for money. I enjoyed my stay in your hotel. The service I received from your staff was of a high quality they know how to cheer guest up. I would love to stay in your hotel again
A lovely hotel with plenty of space. Rooms were a good size. Pool area and garden s were lovely so you can just relax. Dont eat there as the shopping mall is right next door where there far better restaurants.
well looked after establishment, easily accessibly from the N2 Highway, visibility as well. however, we only had a little of bad experience on our arrival, at the reception. Person attended us, I would wasn't good enough for the job that he was doing. it started by having problems with using their speed point, up until another lady intervene. besides, the hotel is good, convenient, visible from the N2 highway, clean establishment. breakfast was superb, the staff at dining area were exceptional.
