The white towels weren't so white. They had brown stains on them. Requested clean ones but they never came. There was a thick layer of dust on the blinds in the bathroom and it is clear that the bathroom mats don't get a wash either. The restaurant had lovely food though and the staff in the restaurant was very helpful...

I decided to give this place a try when I visited the Grahamstown Festival. It was a good choice and I had a very comfortable stay plus it is conveniently situated. I can see that some of the rooms can be very noisy during the Festival and fortunately mine was not one of them. Like many places in City during...

We booked a 2 day professional conference at this venue. Given that it looks out over the fields of St Andrews, I was expecting a lot more for the money we paid. While the staff were very helpful, the organisation of the conference facility was very weak. We had to sort out the projection technology and no pens or paper...

This was a great place to stay. A close walk to everything that we needed and wanted to do - the rooms were very comfortable and cleaned daily. The restaurant provided great food at very reasonable prices. The breakfasts were a great way to start the day. The service was a high standard. Some confusion over some of the room...

Dirty rooms. Stained carpets. Rickety furniture. Creaky bed. Musty smell in room. I plan on wearing flip flops in the shower. I don't trust the shower. Next to a loud club, it is 730 at night and all I hear is base. I am exhausted and I can't sleep. Really wish I hadn't booked a week in advance. I will...

The bedrooms are an afterthought, small compact and overpriced. The main function of The Highlander is an old boys cricket club with wonderful patio positions facing the cricket fields. Having said that the food is good. Breakfasts are served to late in the morning. The staff were really pleasant and efficient, but my conclusion is don't stay there unless absolutely...

Whenever I am in Grahamstown I make a point of having something to eat here. The food is always good as is the service. It also has several TV's if you want to watch the latest sporting action in very comfortable surroundings..
