We loved this place! A former private home set in a lovely garden, it is beautiful and relaxing. Our room (the last one available when we booked about three weeks earlier) was spacious and had a nice patio. The breakfast was great. The staff was welcoming and professional. The wifi was excellent. Conway helped us organize a fascinating tour of...

The Lucky Bean is a sanctuary in the storm. Quite, peaceful and perfect...but also always filled with inspiring guests and populated by the best of company in Conway and Natasha. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to be in the buzz but out of the fray.

My husband and I spent the weekend there this past weekend. Conway was a gracious host and our room was lovely. It opened up into a private garden where we enjoyed a cup of tea in the afternoons. Toilet is somewhat open plan but that wasn't too big an issue. We had an enjoyable swam in the pool too. Communal...

This is an excellent place to stay in Johannesburg. Very quiet and peaceful with a lovely garden in the middle of Melville. Each comfortable room has its own character and charm and is clean, fresh and nicely presented. We won't mention which one we stayed in as it might get booked out! It was lovely. There is good wifi to...

We enjoyed the luxury of tranquility, cleanness and the decent courtesy of the staff. All together made a marvelous stay in the heart of Melville. Excellent wine choice at the Lucky Bean restaurant! You can also have some of those nice wines at the guesthouse, too.

Before we even set foot in South Africa we were impressed by the helpfulness of Conway via e-mail messages. Nothing was too much trouble for him. From arranging transport from the airport to Lucky Bean Guest house, and to the various places of interest was greatly appreciated. Derrick, or the driver was always punctual and helpful and acted as a...

Great location, very nice rooms and beautiful garden, and top notch breakfast. What more could you want? I stayed here twice in December and January 2015 and would definitely stay again. Conway is an excellent host, and the staff are very helpful. Fully deserves a 5 star rating.

Conway, Pretty, Natasha and everyone at the Lucky Bean were perfect hosts. The top-rating is entirely deserved. The accommodation is immaculate, the landscaping is inviting and the breakfast is delicious. Everything is done to ensure a safe, relaxing and comfortable stay. E-mail communication was perfect and responses were immediate from my earliest enquiry. Derick, the driver, was kind, courteous and...

Fantastic guesthouse in Melville. Our stay started very well when Conway upgraded our standard booking to an enormous room with a lovely patio overlooking the garden and pool. We were lucky enough to arrive the night Josie Field and Laurie Levine were playing in Lucky Bean restaurant and Conway also booked us a great table for the gig, excellent food...

As a foreign TV news journalist I travel Africa and stay in many hotels and guesthouses throughout the continent. This time though, I'm reviewing Lucky Bean as a Johannesburg based guesthouse, which is in my neighbourhood, on the same street where I live. I have to admit that I have never stayed here, but all of the visiting colleagues, that...
