Lovely large room for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant. Beds were comfortable and big. Get the dinner and breakfast buffet included, well worth it. Amazing spread, so much food to choose from and super delicious. Whoever the chef is, is very good at their job. Staff are attentive and keen to help with whatever you need. Downsides: no baby high chair in the restaurant, therefore had to seat her on my lap which was tricky. In the room bar fridge rattled at night and old school air con very noisy when on. We would stay here again on a layover.

We stayed in this airport area hotel twice, one night before and one one night after our three night Krueger safari. The second stay was much better than the first. We arrived late at night in our hotel room to find no AC and no television service. After a technician determined that the AC could not be repaired, we asked to be moved to a different room. The front desk person said he could not find a room with separate beds and that my 24 yo son and I would have to sleep in the same bed. I explained how disappointing this was and suggested that he comp the room as we had another upcoming stay. Suddenly, he seemed to be able to find a room and we moved. The rooms and hallways are in definite need of renovations. Our second stay was better, we ate in the restaurant. I do NOT recommend the dinner buffet and had breakfast the following morning, which was fine. Everything worked well for the airport pick ups and drop offs and they held our bags all day the final day while we took a city tour. The area at the airport for the hotel pick ups is VERY hard to find and we had to ask several people where it was. This hotel should provide detailed instructions for finding its van in the hotel van pick up area. …

We stayed here for one night upon arriving into Johannesburg quite late after a very long flight. It was not horrible, but also not great. This hotel feels like it is all style and no substance. It looks quite nice initially – relatively modern and high-end – but when you really look, you start to notice that things are off. For example, in the shower the tiles were starting to hang off the wall in places with what appeared to be black mold in between the tiles, and the shower head was barely attached to the wall. Also, there was no screen on any of the windows even though we were on one of the top floors and the windows did not shut properly. The other odd thing was the layout of the room. We were in a King Bed Suite, and while the room was huge and it was awesome to have a separate living area, I did not love that there are no doors between the bedroom and bathroom (aside from the room where the toilet is). I am used to hotels having no door between the sink and bedroom, but the shower is typically behind a door so as to not disturb anyone in the room who might still be sleeping. Not here. We had a very early start the next morning and because I get up an hour earlier than my husband, he was subject to the lights and noise of the shower while he was still trying to sleep (since the shower is basically right beside the bed). It was either that or shower in the dark. Also on the subject of the shower, the shelf inside the shower is at least 5 ft off the ground (above where I could reach anything) so apparently the shelf is only made for tall people. In addition, the shower immediately overflowed into the bathroom despite the shower door. Lastly on the subject of layout issues, there were no outlets near the bed. Overall, this hotel is fine for a one night stay if you’re looking for something close to the airport, but I would not have wanted to stay here for longer than that. I would also recommend skipping the restaurant unless you are getting into town quite late and just want to crash after a flight from the other wide of the world, like us (at least at dinner – can’t speak to breakfast).…

The room was comfortable, food good, and service friendly. Our biggest complaint is that the pool is the smoking area of the hotel. There is no escaping the smoke, including some very strong pipe smoke…of which knows what. The staff was kind to offer the use of a second pool; however, it was not cleaned in some time and so not usable.

I've stayed at Premier Hotel OR Tambo many times, but after a poor experience with management on 29 Apr 2022, I won't be staying there again, and wouldn't recommend others to stay there either. Fortunately, there's no shortage of good alternatives in the area, and I can happily instead recommend (in no particular order) Protea Hotel, Southern Sun, and City Lodge, all of whom have hotels that are equally conveniently located close to OR Tambo airport. When I last stayed at Premier Hotel OR Tambo, I checked with the hotel before booking to ensure that I would be able to park my car there for free, leave it there for 7 days while I was traveling, and then pick it up on when I came back to stay there again. They communicated it was no problem. I called and confirmed that this was okay 2 more times (the day before my travel and again when I checked in). Just before preparing to turn in for the night, I told security and the receptionist (Duncan) that I would be leaving the car. To my surprise, they told me their policy had recently changed, and that cars cannot be left at the hotel. I communicated with them that that's not what I had been told when I booked. After the receptionist called his manager, I was then told that the policy had changed and now they charge a fee but because they had not yet agreed on what the amount should be, I couldn't even pay to leave my car. The manager (who infuriatingly refused to talk to me directly on the phone or allow the receptionist to give me his name) suggested that I find somewhere else to park and perhaps leave it at the airport. Despite my vocal protests, the manager didn't seem to care that it was 11:00 pm and we'd be flying out at 6:00 am the next day. To be clear, if their policy had been clear all along, I would have had no problem with that. At least I would have known what I'm going into. But changing the policy abruptly, and then forcing customers to live with the poor policy execution, causing them a major inconvenience on short notice... that's poor customer service and hospitality and shouldn't be rewarded with future business.…

Very nice hotel for overnight wait for morning flight out of JNB. Stayed here for one night with my wife and daughter. We booked the dinner, breakfast inclusive. The room was clean and soacious, The dinner and breakfast was excellent. The shuttle to and from the airport was convenient.

The hotel was clean and quiet with a free shuttle from nearby OR TAMBO Airport. There were people burning brush or trash on the property next to the hotel and the smell of that smoke was present in our room in the evening hours but I suppose that’s not 100% the hotel’s fault. Dinner was very good and breakfast was outstanding. This is a solid place to stay after a long flight to Johannesburg.

The Premier Hotel OR Tambo is one of the few hotels in the vicinity of the airport that offer family rooms. These rooms are very conmfortable for three to four persons with ample room and good clean and functional bathrooms. Other desk and temprary holding amenities in the room are very extensive and functional. The staff were very accommodating, especially to special requests, as long as these special requests (e.g. late checkout) were confirmed in advance.

We used to always stay here before and/or after a trip from OR Tambo as it was convenient, good sized family rooms and it was free to park whilst away, however they have now scrapped the free parking and charge R200 a day so now there is no point and its better to stay elsewhere and leave car in the airport. Got back yesterday to find car clamped and had to pay for release as they 'changed their policy 4 months ago' which was pretty cruel, as even on check in I said we were leaving car with them.
