Our family (mom, dad and four children between ages 7-12) stayed at Heia Safari Ranch our last two days in South Africa. We all had so much fun staying in our own hut. The accommodations were clean with great amenities. The kids (& adults) loved seeing all the wildlife wondering around the property just steps from our porch.

We went to Heia called in advance to book breakfast and a canoe ride. Arrived and we were told they don't have canoes due to the new owners and previous owners fighting. Decided to stay for breakfast the outside pool area was pretty. The service was very poor and slow. Whatever you do don't eat at this place the buffet... More

I have never been this humiliated! We booked s part of a photo group College of Digital Photography) and I paid in advance and had the confirmation sent to their fax as per the booking confirmation. On arrival, the lady at the reception asked me to make a payment, and I obviously said that I paid and the confirmation was... More

This is close enough to the city that one can commute it yet removed enough that you feel like you are in an oasis of peace and commune with nature. the animals that roam the property are (while wild) calm and gentle and a fun site at various times of day and evening. the grounds are quite attractive and the... So close to Johannesburg a beautiful place to spend time in the peaceful surroundings of a lake with some wild animals and very well prepared staff. Food quite good. Did not see the rooms, but I think the place needs a revamp as its a little old. Would most definitely suggest it.

We go to Heia Safari Ranch at least once a month to rejuvenate our bodies minds and souls. This is tranquility at it's best. The Sunday buffet is out of this world and I always eat too much but taking long walks along the heritage dame makes you hungry again for the next serving of desserts. We met the owner,... More

Staying at Heia is like walking into an episode of "Wild at Heart" (the TV series, not the mad Nic Cage movie). Gazelle, Zebra and Giraffe roam the grounds, and even a troop of monkeys made their way through in the morning. The food seems to come in for a lot of criticism - I would describe it as home... Although we did not overnight, we spent a full day at Heia. It is in a lovely setting with zebra and other animals roaming around. The zebras came and drunk from the pool which was a wonderful sight to see. They have a nice restuarant and a lovely bar and the staff were very friendly. I saw a lot of... More

I've stayed at Heia for years and always leave feeling refreshed and cared for. Just 45 minutes from Joburg or Pretoria, it feels like you're hours away from busy city life in a far out game park. There is a wide variety of wild animals freely roaming the property, from zebra to giraffe and wildebeest. The bungalows a spacious and... More
