I stayed in Durban at Mackaya Bella from January - March 2016 whilst working at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Nicki and her partner Mike were fantastic hosts and I absolutely loved every part of my trip. The neighbourhood is safe and close to both university campuses - which was great for work. Mackaya Bella is also close to some...

I got the best sleep of the entire trip staying here, a relaxed and friendly place to stay. Internet reviews are very subjective, as many people love a place as hate it but in this case I can't see why most people wouldn't be happy to stay here. It's near to the City centre, in a nice neighbourhood and the...

At first, I was somewhat skeptical about staying in a guest house. But, within few hours the friendly and homely treatment changed my opinion of the Mackaya Bella Guest House. Indeed, it turned out to be a Home, away from my home! Thanks to the Owners and the staff, my stay in Durban became memorable .....

Hi Vincent. Many thanks for your lovely review. I'm so sorry you were disturbed by some early risers - that is normally not the case, but the week you stayed we had a few guests in a row who had extremely early flights to catch and missed breakfast to be there on time. It was just unfortunate you were in...

Very comfortable stay. Quiet area, not far from beaches and restaurants. If you are a fitness fanatic you can walk to most of the close by little restaurants in the vicinity. Hosts are very friendly and I'm sure if you'd asked for a "Joey" on the spit they would make a plan, seeing that the Aussie flag is flying at...

Thanks so much for the lovely review. "Joey" on the spit might be a bit difficult - "shrimps on the barbie" are more my style :) Yes there are lots of nice, wide, tree lined streets to walk around in Glenwood and plenty of cafes & museums to keep you busy. Kind regards, Nicki.
