The location, the accommodations, the food, the staff--everything about this place is superb. The rooms are simple and comfortable and spread out over lovely grounds. We liked meeting in the bar at the main lodge at the end of the day. That's also where we had dinners and breakfasts. There are many great places to visit nearby.

There is so very little not to like with this lodge, but we cannot stray from our 'marking guide' and call it 'excellent'... but we can still highly recommend it as a place to stay for a couple of nights as a base for local exploration... Emma was indeed a superb hostess and was suitably backed up by all of...

So glad we stayed here at Umkhumbi Lodge....only problem was that we only booked for one night when we should have stayed for much longer. We were greeted by Emma and her beautiful dogs and then later got to meet Anton. Great people, really welcoming, up for the craic, give great advice on what to do around the place and...

We visited the lodge in Summer 2016 for a few days, and were delighted by the welcome and service we received. The location is charming and peaceful, rooms very comfortable, and the food was excellent. Host Anton cannot be faulted - he will make a huge effort to ensure that your stay is a success, and is very well connected...

The rooms at this lodge are big, the beds were good, but the bathroom had problems (that were solved after the first night). The rooms was a bit sterile. Worst of all is the window high up in the back wall, which lights up the room at sunrise and makes the curtains in front of the other windows useless. Also...

I stayed at Umkhumbi for a weekend at the end of a business trip. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, and really care. The lodge is set in the most tranquil location, not far from the superb game park at Hluhlwe Imfolozi. Highly recommended

Has a perfect mixture between luxury lodge and African home. Staff are very friendly and professional. The pub deck area has an exquisite view of the African sunset. Top marks! The Hluhluwe game reserve is only 30 min drive. Lake St Lucia is only 10 min drive and the grand St Lucia estuary is a bit of a drive away...

Umkhumbi Lodge is the getaway from the fast paced world we live in. It is run by a small team of fabulous people. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms, food and privacy are all first class. You never know what wildlife will appear outside your room, nothing dangerous but still interesting. The grounds are safe to walk around when...

Why stay in a regular hotel when you can stay at Umkhumbi? They have some game (including the red duiker the lodge is named after) right on sight as well as a variety of butterfly and birds. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable (they even have interconnecting rooms for families) each with their own private patio area to watch...

I will be going back very soon :) We stayed here for one week... Not long enough. The bush is amazing and the whole atmosphere of the place just leaves you wanting to explore and relax in the bar after...
