The neighorbood of the Hluhluwe valley is full of lodges from very basic to very high level. We specifically enjoyed the Gooderson Game lodge due to its authenticity, quiet atmosphere and relaxing environment. Although not specifically suited to see the big five it still heaven for the many birds one can spot. The small bedrooms are located in the reserve...

Another version of a modern day camping with heat and hot water, in the middle of bush land, so peaceful and quite, you can hear natures breeze. Torch lighted very romanticwalkways to the main lodge and dining area. You can watch sunrise if you're willing to get up early. Free wifi in the dining area only. Great place to relax.

This lodge was a real favorite during my recent tour around South Africa. It is set in the middle of nature, and animals come close to some of the units and to the viewing area. Nice breakfast spread each morning and African style dinner served when we were there. The rooms themselves are huge, and the layouts often different from...

Very nice lodge in the national park. Accommodations were fine and well kept up. Rooms were air conditioned. The rooms in the section I stayed in were all individual cabins connected by raised walkways. All had very large porches. One of the big plusses was the large open field where giraffes, zebras, etc roamed freely. The area had no predators...

Friendly staff en very nice guide doing the walking safari, recommended. Very quiet location, which is nice. Walking alley between lodges and restaurant is fine.Look out deck is a nice place to sit and watch animals at the waterhole. Food is just food, nothing more. Whole place need maintenance: bathroom not to clean, carpet on the floor gives you black...

This hotel was unique in that it is situated in the woods in a nice setting. The rooms are basic with little frills or amenities you are accustomed to. But that is expected considering the proximity to Kruger National Park. This lodge is all about location and not ambiance or glamour.

This is really in the Bushland of Zulu territory. You stay in cabins. Woke up one morning to Impalas almost on the front porch. Walked to dinner with zebras along the way and giraffes watching us at night. No phones and Internet only at the dining room but unreliable. Bush baby feeding at night very cute. Very nice staff who...

The rooms are dated, but who cares because we loved the environment! The lodge buildings are within a small reserve that is home to giraffes, cudu, wildebeest, and Impala. Some rooms overlook the grazing area. There are also bush babies that come out at night. Food was good and staff were nice. We enjoyed the gigantic outdoor fire pit in...

This was our first trip up north and we booked mid April for the end of July. I was only informed two weeks before we were due to arrive that we would not be staying in the log cabins advertised on the website and was sent pictures of the 'family unit' we had been 'upgraded' to. I was horrified. Even...

The room was old and dirty. The walls had stains, the bathroom tile had grunge, and my feet looked nearly black from walking on the carpet. The mattress was saggy and too soft, The only interesting thing about the site was that bush babies visited a spot near the restaurant at dusk. I got a couple good pictures of one....
