I stayed at pmb backpackers for two nights, the place was filled with construction workers which was okay, but the staff seemed quite sleepy. They may have had good intentions but it came across as they didn't care about their guests. If you need a cheap place to stay for the night it's alright. Otherwise the place isn't recommendable.

First of all, Sleepy Hollow is a totally different place than Pmb Backpackers. The Management Photos show Sleepy Hollow, the visitors photos show Pmb Backpackers. This rating will be for Pmb Backpackers. Former Sleepy Hollow, but at a different place. That's where I stayed. Pmb Backpackers is NOT a bazbus stop as it said on their homepage. Also they do NOT...

I had booked accommodation at Sleepy Hollow for 8 runners from Katu in the Northern Cape, who were coming down to run the Mandela Day Marathon. They arrived on Saturday 29 August 2015 and were going to sleep for 1 night and travel back after the race. The lady who is looking after this place, named Tipsy, was very rude,...

It was a bit of an emergency and last minute descions that we decided not to camp at Midmar dam and try find an alternative close by. There turns out to be little in the way of backpackers or hostels in Pietermaritzburg, so I suggest if you do find an alternative option to Sleepy Hollo take it, alternatively push on...

well, as said above, PMB Backpackers which apparently used to be sleepy hollow backpackers, has of course changed hands and under new ownership. I have been a constant guest to this backpackers for the last couple of weekends and what i can safely say is that the place is geared for greater potential!. The new ownership and management are quite...

There was some confusion over where we are staying as Sleepy Hollow used to be located here but it is now called PMB Backpackers. This was the only place we could find in PMB at a reasonable price so gave it a go. The staff were friendly but the building needs a lot of work. The rooms are quite shabby...

I slept in a lot of backpackers in South Africa already, so I know what to expect: backpackers are sometimes very nice places to meet people, with an eye for detail and atmosphere. And sometimes just a quiet, nice and cheap place to sleep. But Sleepy Hollow Backpackers in Pietermaritzburg is a different type of backpackers: shabby and expensive together....

I suppose for R130 per night you can’t expect much but if we knew what we were getting ourselves into we would have paid a little extra and tried other B&B's in the area! Apart from dogs everywhere and having to step over their crap...the room was as basic as they get with pillows and linen so old and worn...

We stayed a group of 20 master students, for some days of sleep over before and after our field trip in the Drakensberg Mountains. The first thing we found in one of the dormitories was a dog poop, which one of us accidentally stepped on. The manager of the place has four dogs from a dog kennel, which were prioritised...

It could have been pleasant enough but unfortunately not the case. The only backpacker in Pietermaritzburg, our group didn't have a choice but to stay here and that's when the unfortunate incidents began to happen. On the first day, someone entered his room to step on dog poo - and that's not the only time when the four dogs that...
